Well thats great news that Polo production has stepped up and bookings for 1.6L has also begun! Pricing seems okay , not bad and the specs are mouth watering with a true top speed of 183kmph!

Is this the Polo 1.6? I have seen a Polo with similar badging. Or i have a doubt , why Polo's have different patterns of badging in their models?

The 1.6 deserves a 6 speed box, atleast.

5 speed box [frustration]

As per Carwale, Volkswagen has now launched the much awaited Polo 1.6 in India:

The Volkswagen Polo 1.6 L Petrol variant has made its way into the Indian Car Market. The car will boast of a 1598 cc engine which will produce 104 bhp. Its predecessor, the Polo 1.2 L Highline has a 1198 cc engine. The rest of the specifications being the same, the under-the-hood change is bound to grab the attention of all those wishing to fly in this sturdy hatchback.

Thats surprising! No teasers and all? 104HP sounds good, i hope this is a performer and not just good on papers.
Any idea about the exteriors? Are they same as that of regular Polo?

I got a chance to drive the 1.6 a month or two back. Must admit, its THE petrol hatchback to buy today.

Infact, I will go onto say that it is the best performance oriented hatchback to set foot in the country till date. Its a complete package. Performance, safety, build quality, ride & handling, looks & comfort.

How did you managed to get the test drive before it was released? Yes, 1.6 engine is really peppy. But, I will not call it as a complete package. Remember, a complete package car should score 5 star rating for safety too. Under 10L segment only Hyundai i20 Asta(O) meets this rating.

^ Isn't the EU spec i20 that meets the 5 star rating?
Maybe it is safer to put it as "The Asta (O) nearly meets this rating" ?
Please tell me if I'm wrong.
