Volkswagen Plant Tour For TAI-Gers in Pune on 7th March

Hi Friends,

Hope you all remember that we have initiated for a plant tour at Volkswagen plant. I had sent a mail requesting the possibilities for organizing plant tour for us, TAIgers.

On Friday, I got a mail from Mr. Chaitanya Halbe, VW confirming the date and time for plant tour.

We have been allotted 7th March 2014 @ 10 AM.

I would like to get confirmation from our members about this date.

There is no info about alternate date/time (Now I have requested for that, if I get any reply I will let you all know)

If we could confirm it we can proceed further on booking tickets tickets in train (already it is in WL for Chennai to Pune)

Sir it is 7th Mar and not 7th Feb. I should be able to come but not sure will be able to drive. Bangalore people please vote who all coming.

Not sure I would be able to drive from Banaglore (if we need to start 6th evening). Not quite comfortable with night driving and following day full schedule.

Did not find any trains which start in evening and reach next morning.

Good alternative are KSRTC Volvos as they would start around 4-6 pm and take around 14 hours to reach Pune.

Other members, please advise.

Also what about staying in Pune ?

I tried for train from Chennai to Pune. Found two trains comfortable. Both leave around 10.xx pm on 5th and reach Pune on 6th night. But i found it in WL.

Anyone planing to go by car from Chennai or Bangalore?

I suggest something like, Chennai guys reach Bangalore and meet Bangalore friends. Please pool from there and come with your rides where all 4 people can drive fair amount of distance(if you mutually do not have a problem) so when one is driving others can relax. Try this it will save time and money too

I was planning to take evening Volvo from BLR. No train timings are suiting (I do not want to spare more than 1 day leave).

KSRTC Volvo buses would be ideal, as plant vist would be hectic. Also, we need to return back in a day or two.

Meanwhile, please check for an alternative date as well.

Driving would be fun, but depends on how many of us are travelling.

I checked fares from chennai to pune which is Rs.1700/-. Very expensive. Train fare for SL class is somewhere around Rs.425/-

Driving may not be quite fun, if we start late afternoon or evening from Bangalore. In case we drive, we need to start on 6th morning. But that will be 2 days off from work place.

Edit : Volvo fares (one way to Pune) from BLR is 950/-
