But apart from that my family will go for longer highway trips every month... A total of around 1250kms/month!

So, I thought Diesel will be apt for me! Am I took a wrong decision?
Km 900 to 1400 was always a grey zone while deciding P vs D.With recent 10 Rs hike in diesel rate speculations ,it has become darker .So answer is LPG, and CNG if availability is not problem on your routes.
Answer about which car? also depends on number of family members traveling, their heights and weights.

But I feel little confused while seeing on to the highly efficient petrol cars(yeilding around 20kmpl) and the low maintenance costs.

BTW, any idea of the exact cost of the unsubsidised Diesel?
Which cars (20 kmpl) you are talking about ? Please mention names. And such car deal can definitely justify your running.

Cost of unsubsidized diesel ? Please contact the Gods worshiped by you.
For me, they will increase it by atleast5 to 6 rupees, as full 10 rupees hike will give katora in the hands of cost deregulators after 2014 (read elections) for sure, as BPL and poors would suffer a lot.

Also, discounts given should be justifying the loss of resale value due to car being year end manufactuerd. So please mention about the discounts offered to you for various short listed cars.

Don't forget the 10 Rs hike in diesel rate can be a rumour spread by automakers to hasten petrol car sales. But 5 Rs hike is possible as elections are not immidietly foreseen.

If looking for Petrol then also look at Honda Jazz, .
For low GC cars , the roads on your usual route needs to be in better condition. It also depends on your driving style , gentle? hurry type? as even if roads are better , speed breakers might not be .so please let us know.

Not really. The waiting periods on maruti cars have come down recently. If you are keen on swift/dzire, make a call to nearest maruti dealer.
Add another Rs. 14 to the current price of diesel in your city.
Hi senthil,
Swift VDI waiting period of 04 months is thing of past. They have really ramped up production these days. This is im Mumbai.
thanks for the info dude. BTW, I have enquired the MSIL and here they are just saying 3 months for SwiftD and 1month for Swift P.

Looking at the trend in other countries, non subsidized diesel proves to be more expensive than gasoline.

once in a while I do check out my MID which is currently showing 17.7 Kmpl without a/c, while in peak summers, a/c thermo on full and working for 100% of the time in bumper to bumper traffic has given me a minimum of 13.1 Kmpl.
Wow thats really a great mileage you got. thanks a lot for your suggestions teja.

If looking for Petrol then also look at Honda Jazz, Not sure if its with in your budget but worth having a look at. It has got a very effective space and comforts.
BTW, I have visited the Honda showroom too. And I liked the Man-Max:Mac.-Min policy of Honda too. But I dono whether that much price should be hiked for that.

Senthil

I feel Sail UVA diesel will fit you with some fresh perfect looks !! and Chevrolet 3 year maintenance assurance [:)]
+100 dude. Its my second option. Ofcourse first is Vista(as of now![cry])[confused]

Same in Grey zone. My previous car(Santro) was LPG endorsed. And I have sold it only due to the rare availability of LPG Stations.

Guys, and I heard a news from the nearest Maruti dealer. It was really shocking to me.!

"Ertiga on discount price. Rs.20,000 Cash offer. Rs.20,000 Exchange bonus. Rs.10,000 worth Accessories free! "

If my budget could be extended, I would have gone for that. But it still gets 1.5Lakhs price diff,.[lol][;)]

No doubt Vista is superb VFM car !!

It just happened that I drove this Sail UVA for a very short distance as Chevrolet service is my neighbour and there was a new UVA owner standing with his new car and when I have asked him how is the car, then surprisingly he straight away gave me the keys and told me to have round and come[:)], I just took it for a short distance, hmm it was really awesome man !! I do not have words for it, superb in everything and returned the car to him and he then asked me how it is, they I side it was really good !! Its design is really looking fresh with that Chevrolet badge.
Vista is good in everyway but I did not like its rear design from side and also when I see them as TAXI when I call for one. So UVA is really good man

I think your running justifies a Diesel but there are talks of hiking the diesel prices.

If you are looking at the Honda Jazz I can guarentee FE of 21-22 with AC on free highways and 17-18 in city with AC(No traffic, the roads at my place are pretty free of traffic).

Friends thanks a lot for all your kind opinions....[:)]

Had a good discussion with my dad and friends along with all your posts for a whole day...

And finally stood up with my booking on Vista...

Thanks a lot for TAI, since it helped me to get cleared of the confusions...

Then itself I called and informed(confirmed![;)]) to TATA motors....

In an urge, proceeded with the Bank loan processing too...

Today got the check issued by the Bank to TATA......

Probably we will be getting Vista Sedan Class QJD (VX) by Monday/Tuesday..[clap]
