One of the 1st Brio’s in TAI, very late entry, lazy butt.
Story Line:
Cousin got married and was ready for a junior, so thought of having a new car for the baby. She already had the Estilo (Hell's Angel) (with us) and Brother-in-law had a Chevy UVA (with his dad). So they wanted one for their own.
Main purpose was picking.dropping baby girl and office commute; daily commute of approx 50 km and mileage was a concerning factor. Their budget was 5L max and no diesels fit the budget and BIL wanted a fully loaded car, didn’t want any after market job.
I suggested to Wagon R and Beat/Spark. Being a fedup Chevy user, he declined the Cheviess right away and was not interested in bored looks of Wagon R. He was adamant about getting an A-Star VXi. I tried max to convinve them it's an overpriced, crap car. Top model costed 5L+ and was not worth the price.
Then one day, a diehard Honda fan friend o’mine, calls me up to take TD of Jazz for him as he dunno to drive. Took TD of Jazz and was very impressed with the package and price was killer, worth every penny for the equipment and quality. Price was around 5.5L after the sudden drop and it was an awesome car.
Called cousin again and asked them to try the Jazz. She said they zeroed the A-Star and gonna TD and book soon. After disturbing them a lot, they inquired with the dealer and unluckily it was the Thailand flood time and waiting period was indefinite. So back to A-Star.
One fine day came a Brio ad with a killer price tag. Called her right away and asked her to just to have a look at it.
They fixed TD for A-star and Brio the same day. First was the Brio, showroom was just ½ km from where they work. After TD she was saying she don’t even want to drive back Estilo. She was very much impressed and was saying all these years she was driving a crap car. BIL was also very impressed. They drove A-Star just for the TD guy’s sake.
Honda cars were infamous for mileage and quality was exceptional and they fell for it.
The Booking (Twists and Confusions):
That day, I was back from night shift and was badly sleepy. She called up in the morning asking for Hell's Angel to go to dealer. Fearing she might chose some weird color (she was confused of pink and aquamarine when buying Estilo), jumped in with them. Red Brio was in my mind. All 3 were confused seeing the brochure. All colors looked good. Decided to see all colors in real and decide.
And for the first time, we spotted around 10 Brios, all of them just delivered, more than half of them were red. After reaching dealer, came to know it was Brio day and totally they delivered 20 of them the same day. They too liked red, but only silver was available for ready delivery. BIL wanted black and no silver as they got silver UVA. Convinced him the difficulty in maintaining a black car. Saw white and blue ones at yard. Decided on red SMT (O) and booked right away and applied for loan with PNB.
Second thoughts. Lots of red cars in their office, Figos, Vistas and even Indicas. Decided to change to black. I said Urban Titanium. Fixed ir.
Again delivery woes in Honda, dealer informed car can't be delivered in the promised time and apologised. We wanted the car before April 15 as she had to rejoin office after maternity leave. Sales rep was a good guy and he promised he will help us out. One day he calls up, one Silver SMT available from a cancelled booking (the one we saw at dealer was VMT). It was a now or never situation as the next load was at least a month away. Checked the car and okayed it. And it was ours (theirs).
The D-Day:
Ironically, it was 04/04/2012, 5 years back Hell's Angel rolled out the same day.
Price: Exactly 5L (Including Garware tints + extended warranty + bumper-to-bumper insurance)
Dealer: Peninsular Honda, Trivandrum.
The Car:
As every Honda's quality speaks. Great low-end torque for city. On highway 2-3rd takes time to pick up, but 4-5 goes fast. Cruises at 100 without any stress with AC, 5 on board and boot full.
At the dealer.
First Glimpse
White VMT
Rear to roll
There it go
Clash of Angels
On the road
Meets an Urban Titanium on the way
Replacement killers meet the first time
When Brio met it's big Bro
04/04/2013 First Birthday. Paid insurance, 13k, bumper-to-bumper
