Missed out Ponmudi deliberately as their is nothing in Ponmudi only barren rock hills. Not even a good restaurant. Only one is KTDC Restaurant (within 50km radius) which has average food which are priced exorbitantly (Because of no competition). Also a small resort is their near to Ponmudi called Duke Forest but is a bit expensive.

Firstly sorry for not updating this thread and secondly thankyou guys soo much for the inputs and efforts to make my trip a memorable one with better planning and itenery.
As was travelling had hell lot of work to do before leaving and so could not update it here,I have already posted my travelogue which is still updating as and how i get time to upload and share details and pictures.
I thankyou one again for all of you friends for your inputs.

Hi, guys me too planning a trip to kerala from , 26th May 18 to 31st May 18.
I am planning to
1)land at kochi on 26 th afternoon.
2)hire a self drive Innova or Hexa, or XUV.
3)move to Tekkady- Periyar national park, overnight (26 th May) stay outside the park in a hotel.
4) on 27th May, day time, watch the wild life ( interested in watching tigers) & lake boating in the park.
5) move to Allepy in the evening ( 27th May), stay overnight at Allepy. Is it possible to board a houseboat in the night or you can board it in the morning only?
Please suggest hotels & House boats at Allepy.
6) 28th May, full day on houseboat.
Please comment on parking facility in Allepy.
7) 29 th May, move to Kumarkom, stay at kumarkom on 29th evening if I get affordable hotel there. Is it possible to enjoy at kumarkom without boarding a house boat?
Enjoy kumarkom till 30th noon & 8)move to Allepy beach for enjoying evening there
9) on 30 th May night to stay at Allepy beach or on the way to kochi.
10) board the plane to Pune at kochi Airport at 2 pm on 31 st noon.
Is this OK plan or you suggest any change? or cancellation of any picnic spot?

Just a suggestion to your itineraray
26 - Reach Kochi. Go to Periyar National Park
27 - Safari at Periyar National Park
28 - Thekkady to Kumarkom
29 - Kumarkom to Alleppey (Boathouse)
30 - Alleppey
31 - Alleppey to Kochi Airport
Few flexibility:
1) After a safari at Periyar National Park you can directly move towards Kumarkom for night stay.
2) In second half of next day you can move from Kumarkom to Alleppey

Last week I had a visit to one of the most beautiful destination in Kerala known as ”Wayanad” which is a very famous place around the world. One of my best friends was there with me along the journey throughout, which made the journey more fabulous. We both had a dream of an adventurous trip, which was successfully fulfilled by this journey. The journey was all about greenery, hill stations, waterfalls, and trekking. All the way throughout the journey was simply superb, you could just sit back and watch the natural beauty itself would make you amazed. We also had a boating at Banasura dam which was remarkable. The dam itself was so beautiful but since we visited at afternoon it was so sunny but otherwise it was stunning. We had booked tour packages to Wayanad which made our journey carefree and more enjoyable. All the bookings and accommodation were taken care by the dealers.
Have you tried to contact a tour operator? They are reasonable without the headache.

If you are planning to visit Kanyakumari, then must halt at Suseendram which is enruote to Kanyakumari and on the highway itself.
I presume you will be staying at Kanyakumari (to see the sunrise?) and if that is the case, on your return (after seeing the sunrise, finish your breakfast) you can halt at Suseendram which will be the ideal time to visit that temple.?!

As of now canceled the kerala trip and would be doing kerala next year.
