Travelogue: Driving Maruti 800 from Delhi To Pune

And after reading quite a few travelogue on our TAI it looks that the roads have become much better as compared to my last trip. To be specific NH 8 all the way from Delhi to Mumbai. It is making me more and more excited for my next trip Delhi - Goa - Delhi.

For People who wanted to travel from Pune to Delhi here is an alternative route.
Pune-Nasik-Dhule-Dhammod-Nagda-Ratlam-Neemuch-Nimbahera-Chittorgarh-Jaipur-Delhi.
I travelled on these route last October and the road condition were quite good. Starting from Shirdi at 3:30 AM I could reach Behror at 9:30 covering 1150 Km. I will share my travel-log soon.
This is shorter than going via Mumbai. Few Km more than going via Indore-Agra.

There was a construction of road going on 50 Km before Indore to Dhamnod. If this road is done most people would take this route for Delhi - Pune /Delhi - Mumbai.

So finally we said gud bye to our good old Maruti 800 today. The car had served us for 11 long years and we used it in almost every kind of terrain, weather and roads. And it never let us stranded in middle of a road. Our car was stolen and found back in 2011 near Diwali. The car had actually done 120K on the ODO and had seen several states as well. And the best drive was Delhi - Pune - Delhi - Moradabad.
So it was really a hard decision to let her go but it was the right time as well to say gud bye to our superb 800 and managed to get 50K for the same. As we have booked a Hyundai EON which should arrive home coming Monday.

why roads are not improving around gwalior, jhansi? still deep potholes on that 100 k.m. patch, even after 10 years. NO construction is going on to improve roads.
Is there any other route to reach sagar to agra?

It was nice to read your experiences of Delhi Pune ride in Maruti 800. In 2007, I also travelled from Meerut to Pune from the same route in my Alto with my wife.
Meerut-->Delhi-->Mathura--->Agra-->Gwalior 1st Day (Visited Taj Mahal)
Gwalior-->Indore - 2nd Day (Visited Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain)
Indore-->Malegaon-->Manmad-->Shirdi-->Pune 3rd Day
saw some worst roads of India on 2nd and 3rd day. From Malegoan to Shirdi I dont remember whether there was something like road on the ground or not. The temperature in Jan was so high that full AC wasn't enough and we covered the distance in almost 19 hrs continues drive with just 3 breaks lunch. I dont know if the situation is bettered in all those years or it is same. Would never like to go on this route again.
