Day 3
I dont know how to start the Munnar experience. I just have few words for it - Heavenly Place, Amazing people, Crazy drive and Lovely food. Hope this will set your expectations :) and believe me it is really a wonderful place for a good holiday.
So after a good drive from BR Hills of about 6Hrs with few halts in between we reached the main security entrance gate to the forest area from where we head to Munnar. I had to get down and make an entry in the register provided by the cops there and pay the toll fee of about 30Rs. I was then allowed to pass through. Drove for about 50mtrs and there was another checkpost. I had to get down again and make another entry and pay some charges. Drove for another 30mtrs and another check post and another one after another 50mtrs. Ooooh... that was a pain. But finally the checkposts were over and I could drive down or call it up towards Munnar. This way was entirely forest area and we were not supposed to get down or stop the vehicle in between for security reasons. So we continuously drove for about 2+ hrs and reached Marayoor town. The entire road to the Marayoor was not very good though not very bad either and since we were in Scorpio which is a great vehicle for these tracks, it was a breeze for us. Anyway so once we reached Marayoor and since we were damn hungry the first thing we wanted to do was "pet-pooja (fill our stomach)" :) So we found one good restaurant and ordered the food immediately. Though the menu was pretty big and exhaustive, they only had few options available including chinese and south indian food. So we opted for Chinese stuff. It was good yummy food but the price to qty ratio was bad. So we had to order more food later as we found out the quantity served was not enough. After a long wait we finally got the repeat order and finished our dinner. In the mean time, the guy there asked me if we would want to carry on to Munnar or wanna stay back there at Marayoor and continue the journey next morning. So since I was also tired we opted for the latter. So we took one AC room and crashed into the bed. Good Night !!
Next morning we woke up at 8am and got ready for onward journey. So first things first we had our breakfast at the same place and then continued towards Munnar after a quick gas top-up and tyre pressure check. The roads to Munnar were fabulous and we were happy that we did not do this last night as we would have missed the scenery around us during night driving.

Cattle on the road. A usual sight on Indian roads.
Tea plantations started from here
Tea plantations at Munnar
Workers at Tea plantations. These ladies are the ones who pickup the tea leaves and send it to factory. The tea leaves are plucked as per the freshness, size etc and then processed further. The ladies here get merely 100~150Rs per day for a load of 10kg plucked leaves. They need to wear rubber sheets or platic sheets to protect themselves from getting wet in mornings 'coz of dew or in monsoons from rain water on the plants.
