Toyota Unveils Etios Motor Racing in India

Hi, according to bs motoring TRD will enter motorsport scene of india.

Toyota Racing Development, the motorsport arm of Toyota has announced its plans to enter the Indian motorsport scene with a one-make series. Due to begin in mid-2012, the one-make road racing series that will possibly span the three racing tracks of the Buddh International Circuit, Coimbatore and Chennai race tracks, it will most likely mirror a sort of touring car championship series.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor Limited will provide the cars and engines for this one-make series, though unlike the Volkswagen Polo Cup would only be run by the company. About 25 to 30 cars would be part of this series and the engines and cars would be sold to customers/teams that are keen on participating in the series.

Toyota Racing Development is in the process of getting FIA approvals for the series. The cars will be stripped down and re-built by the customers/teams before being readied for the series. An announcement to the effect with further details is expected to be made at the upcoming 2012 Auto Expo in January at New Delhi

Ever since the first Indian F1 GP – India is eventually attracting too many motor sports related activities around. I read that even Audi is also contemplating about their motorsport related plans in India. Good going!

I always used to wonder how a Liva would look in racing/rallying specs. Well I am impressed

TRD car specifications:

16 valve DOHC, 4 Cylinder Petrol engine.

A full racing inspired body kit.

17 inch alloys.

Sport suspension.

Lots of racing stuff such as sporty steering, muffler, racing seats with harness etc.

And a fire extinguisher as well.

The company will be looking for drivers across 22 cities aged between 15-24. They will be trained and groomed and finally 25 of them will be selected for the final racing series which will commence in the third quarter of 2013. The winners will get the opportunity to represent Toyota in international racing events.

Starting off from 2013, Toyota will be setting off its own one-make series of 5-6 rounds in the season.

Online driver registration begins as soon as 15th January 2012 and closes a month later, after which selected candidates will have to undergo rigorous training camps before the final driver line up is finalised.

Race-ready Etios twins will be making rounds of 22 Toyota dealerships in 13 cities for four months beginning end of January 2012. The second half of this year will also see the cars partake in road shows and exhibition races setting things wonderfully for the actual racing series in 2013.

I must say the Etios Race version looks far more better than the regular version.

also from what i heard, liva will not particpate will later. it will be only sedan.
