Toyota Rumion G AT launched at Rs 13 lakh

Toyota has added a new mid-spec automatic variant to the Rumion MPV’s line-up. The Rumion G was previously available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but now, buyers can opt for a 6-speed automatic transmission as well. The Rumion G AT is priced at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it 1.40 lakh costlier than its manual counterpart. Bookings have commenced for an amount of Rs 11,000.

The Rumion is available in three trims – S, G and V – but curiously, until now, the automatic gearbox option was only available on the base-spec S and top-spec G trims. With this latest update, the auto gearbox option is available across the range. As such, the G AT is priced Rs 1.06 lakh higher than the S AT, and Rs 73,000 less than the top-spec V AT.

The features list on the G AT is the same as its manual counterpart; compared to the base S trim, the G trim adds kit like two-tone alloy wheels, dual-tone seat fabrics, keyless entry and go, automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Androoid Auto and Apple CarPlay, front fog lights and Toyota’s in-car connectivity suite. However, the G variant misses out on equipment such as a leather-wrapped steering, cruise control, side airbags, and a rear camera.

Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion gets Maruti’s 103hp, 137Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In CNG-spec, the same engine produces 88hp and 121.5Nm, and only gets the manual gearbox option.

Crucially, Toyota has reopened bookings for the Rumion CNG variant that’s available on the base-spec S trim. Earlier in September last year, the company had temporarily halted bookings for the Rumion CNG citing “overwhelming demand”, with waiting periods extending up to a year in certain places.

The Rumion MPV is priced between Rs 10.44 lakh – Rs 13.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and rivals the likes of the Maruti Ertiga, XL6 and the Kia Carens.

Toyota Rumion gets free accessories with new Festival Limited Edition

Toyota has introduced the new Festival Limited Edition of the Rumion MPV, following the Taisor and Glanza. Like the Festival Edition of these two models earlier, the new Rumion gets a complementary accessory package, available until October 31. The Rumion is currently priced between Rs 10.44 lakh and Rs 13.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The accessory package includes chrome garnishes around the headlamps, rear door, rear bumper, and number plate housing. It also gets new side body cladding, a roof edge spoiler, chrome door visors, and new mud flaps.

Do note that this is a dealer-level accessory package, which would cost Rs 20,608 if purchased separately. It is available on all three trims (S, G, and V) of the Rumion.

However, there aren’t any major additions on the inside, as the accessory package only includes new deluxe carpet mats. The equipment list remains unchanged, which means the Rumion continues with features like a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, keyless entry, and auto-fold ORVMs. Safety features include four airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill hold assist, and a rearview camera with parking sensors.

Under the hood, the Rumion Festival Limited Edition continues with the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 103hp and 137Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The engine can also be had in CNG-spec, where it produces 88hp and 122Nm of torque.
