hmm..24 kmpl sounds great for sedan..but engine is detuned and without VGT does that effects fe??

Yes it will affect FE. I am expecting to be somewhere around 20-22, not more than that. FEs become somewhat peaked at certain levels and it becomes difficult to increase further without doing drastic changes in engine or kinetics.

But then we have to wait and watch!

As the weight of etios is only 930kg the 1400cc may get 20+ mileage even without VGT. But power may be low when compared to Altis VGT engine.

Wow, that quite surprising. I was expecting the diesel version of these entry level Toyota's at much later stage. However, i hope Toyota has worked on basic issues which are being faced by most of the Etios/Liva owners.

In Kerala bookings for Diesel Etios and Liva will start on 1st of September. Pricing will be plus 80000 rupees over petrol model and the variants are not of sure.

Etios Diesel bookings haven't started yet. Today Nippon Toyota Executive told me that they didn't get their confirmation mail from Toyota. Launching date also to be confirmed. Actually they might be in a fear that they will loose their petrol model's bookings if diesel's bookings get starts.

Toyota has confirmed that launch is on 9th September. They were initially planning to bring it in August but delayed due to Tsunami and Earthquake in Japan.

Got a call from toyota dealer that liva and etios both would be launching in diesel variants and mostly together by september 9th, or if changed then liva might get launched earlier then etios in diesel mill.Approx pricing would be a lac costlier to petrol engines.Same as altis engine but without VGT as shared by vibhor and would be 75bhp power mill.
