Honda has issued a recall for its H’ness CB350 and CB350RS neo retro roadsters for concerns regarding the models’ brake light and the bank angle sensor.

The company says an improper process being followed during manufacture of the rubber parts of the brake light switch there are chances of cracks developing. Honda Gold Wing, CBR1000RR Fireblade recalled

Honda has issued a recall for two of its premium motorcycles – the Gold Wing GL1800 tourer and the CBR1000RR Fireblade – and both bikes reportedly suffer from a fuel pump issue.

According to the company, the fuel pump impellers may have been improperly molded, which can cause them to deform and result in fuel pump failure. This can cause the fuel pump to stop functioning and cause the bike to stall while riding.

The inspection and replacement of the faulty parts will be done free of cost irrespective of the warranty status of the motocycle. As soon as the parts are available, Honda BigWing dealers will notify the concerned party about the recall service.

Alternatively, owners of these bikes can go to the Honda BigWing India website and enter the VIN number of their machines and check whether that specific unit has been affected. Honda India’s BigWing website also claims that fixing the problem will take approximately 1 hour.

For the Honda Gold Wing GL1800, units manufactured between December 2017 to December 2023 are affected. In the case of the Honda CBR1000RR, bikes manufactured between September 2017 to April 2020 have been affected. While the Gold Wing GL1800 is offered only in a single variant in India, the erstwhile Fireblade was offered in two variants – standard and SP.

Suzuki issues recall for almost four lakh scooters, bikes in India

Suzuki has issued a massive recall for three of its scooters. The recall has been issued on July 25th 2024 and affects vehicles manufactured between April 30th 2022 to December 3rd 2022.

This particular issue affects the Suzuki Access 125, Burgman 125 and Avenis 125. This issue is caused due to a faulty high tension cord which is installed to the ignition coil. This is what Suzuki describes the issue to be, “Since high tension cord which did not meet the drawing requirements (NG) was installed to ignition coil, crack and breakage occurred in high tension cord due to repeated bending caused by engine oscillation during running, resulting in engine stall and starting failure. Further, when cracked high tension cord is exposed to water, the vehicle speed sensor and throttle position sensor may be damaged by the leaked ignition output, resulting in speed display failure or starting failure”.

Suzuki has listed the number of affected units to be 2,63,788 for the Access, 52,578 for the Avenis and 72,025 for the Burgman 125. Suzuki also mentions this to be a precautionary recall and has informed affected owners to visit their nearest service center to have the part replaced.

Suzuki has also issued an unrelated recall for the V-STROM 800DE in India for vehicles manufactured between May 5 2023 to April 23rd 2024. This is an international recall and Suzuki estimates that up to 67 units have been affected in India. The issue here stems from a faulty rear tyre where cracks or deformations can form in the tire tread. If gone unchecked, portions of the rear tire tread may separate from the tyre structure and impact overall vehicle dynamics. Affected bikes will have a new rear tyre installed.

Honda CB300R, CB300F, CB350 trio recalled

Honda has issued two recall campaigns for its 300-350cc motorcycle range, citing problems with the wheel speed sensors and camshafts.

  1. Issues caused by faulty manufacturing process
  2. No mention of how many motorcycles have been affected
The wheel speed sensor issue is seen in a total of five bikes: CB300F, CB300R, CB350, CB350RS and H’ness 350, which were manufactured between October 2020 to April 2024. According to Honda, the issue is caused by a faulty molding process. This may allow water to seep into the wheel speed sensor and cause it to malfunction causing errors with the speedometer, traction control or ABS intervention. This defect could lead to a potential accident due to ineffective braking. Honda has not mentioned how many bikes have been affected by this issue.

The second issue affects three bikes: CB350, CB350RS, H’ness CB350, manufactured between June 2024 and July 2024. The company claims that the reason for the failure is due to an improper manufacturing process which may lead the vehicle to perform sub-optimally.

Honda BigWing dealerships are proactively reaching out to customers with affected motorcycles and will replace the faulty parts at locations across India. The replacement service is free of charge, regardless of the bike's warranty status. Customers can also check if their vehicle falls under this campaign on the Honda BigWing website.
