I am not sure whether any difference in batteries of Tiago and Tigor. Anycase, the difference is just Rs.200/-. May be the prices varies depends on the tax structure of the State etc.?
Tax structure could be possible.

In my last post, I paid the price for Creta's battery which has a larger Ah rating than the one on your car that is what intrigued me. The one in my Creta 68Ah whereas what you have installed gets a 50Ah rating.

360 degree Camera

My neighbour recently purchased Maruti Breeza top end model (full option) and took delivery of the car yesterday. I was also with him while doing PDI, taking delivery etc. and after seeing the feature of 360 degree camera function on this new vehicle, I am also attracted to this feature and thinking of adding the feature in my existing system.

Accordingly checked with Blaupunkt to find out if my existing main unit will support 360 degree camera which they replied NO. The Long Beach 970 doesn't have a requisite chipset to accept an input from a half-kit. However, it can handle a full kit, but it is complicated and may take up to one day to do the set up.

Alternatively, he proposed one of their latest Head unit - Blaupunkt Ft. Lauderable 900 which support 380 degree camera. The cost of this new head unit is Rs.33240/-(discounted price) and then may need another Rs.12000 or so for the half-kit (interface etc. for 380 degree camera). So, in fact it is going to cost around Rs.50, 000 including fitting charges if I go for this new unit from Blaupunkt.

In the meanwhile, I have checked with one local car accessory shop sells all kinds of car stereos who also confirmed that the Long Beach 970 may not support 360 degree camera. I have asked him to send me the details of other head units with 380 degree camera ready (I believe Brands like Hypersonic, DHC, VP1 etc. available in the market with a price around Rs.25/35000).

Waiting for the shop guy's recommendations.

Any recommendations from you guys?

The 360° camera is a good-to-have feature particularly for larger cars but for a compact car like Tigor (or even Brezza), I don’t think it’s worth it considering the exorbitant costs and the hassle involved during installation.

Yes, I agree. However, I have been thinking of changing this head unit mainly after connecting front camera into it. By default the head unit comes only with input for reverse camera but no provision for front camera which eventually connected to A/V in port. Now if need to activate the front camera, I have to go for A/v in and then click the A/v in icon but then the music will be stopped once the front camera is activated.

The reverse camera switched on automatically when selecting the reverse gear, but same way it will not open front camera while shifting to 1st gear - little inconvenient, especially while driving.

360 degree Camera
I feel this addition won't be of much use in a small car. For a proper use, it must be Endeavour or larger to get the 'real' use of this addition.

Moreover these aftermarket cameras lack the clarity one expects after paying 5-digit figures. Last month when we bought the WagonR top-end, we got an aftermarket camera sold under their MGP setup, which is fixed on the rear bumper and to say, I don't like how it is projecting on the 7" screen. Absolutely bad quality in the night and in rains it is useless.

So my honest suggestion is to divert that money you are looking to spend on the 360 degree camera elsewhere.

+1 sir.

@350Z and @anuraagshenoy

Thanks both of you for your comments/advice.

I started thinking of going in for 360degree camera set up just not that I am very much addicted to this feature, but in any case I need to change the existing android system (Blaupunkt) since I noticed a couple of problems in this system

The major problem I have been experiencing from the first day after I fitted the front camera which was fitted down the front grill and connected to the A/v IN port. (This was the only possibility to fix a front camera and connect to the Blaupunkt as the system did not have provision or a port to connect a front camera). So whenever I want to switch the front camera (it won't get activated when changing the gear to D (drive) position), I have to select the A/v IN icon on the screen and click the A/v IN. By doing this audio goes off, and again I have to switch off the A/v IN and switch on the FM, if I need to listen music.[frustration]

Another problem I have noticed lately was whilst the FM music is on, suddenly the station search starts on its own and then after some time it stops. It happens throughout the driving and I have tried to reset/save the FM stations again and again, but this problem keeps coming in.

Whilst talking to the Blaupunkt officials, I pointed out this problem which they felt could be the problem with the system and need a thorough check for which I have to take the car to one of their dealer shops which is 50kms away from my home (one way).

Blaupunkt has stopped this model and my warranty period also over hence whatever repair to be done I have to pay which I know will be expensive because of the premium brand.

Instead of fingering this old system and paying few thousand rupees, I started of thinking of going in for the new system. Being a lover of advanced technology and to get more comfort and convenient my mind saying to go for the latest product with added technology, and that's the reason I am checking about various brands which come with 360degree camera ready.

It's not the size of the car, but when we can afford the latest features with some extra amount, why can't we have it that feature in our system whether it is going to 100 % useful or not. I indeed need a front and reverse camera and an android system for which no compromise and with that a 360 degree camera is going to be an extra comfort.![roll]

Further to my previous post (post no. 186), today morning I was talking to an accessory shop close to my house who said that he can connect 360degree camera on my existing Android unit (Blaupunkt Long Beach 970) and the cost will be Rs.22000/-. (The Blaupunkt guys clearly told me that it is not that easy to connect 360degree camera on this one since the system is not supported for such fittings.).

The shop guy further has given me the names of a couple of other units he has fitted to many vehicles, which are:

Need for Speed - the price around 29000/- for 4GB/32GB variant.

searched about this unit and found below the video:

Maxxlink 360degree camera set up - see below the video:

Still looking if any other options are available in the market, however I feel it is better to go for new and advanced Android unit with 360degree camera ready set up rather than adding the 360deg feature to my existing Android unit which is 4.5 years old.

Any suggestions?

If you are okay with spending the extra amount to get a new HU that is compatible with a 360-degree camera and plan to hold onto the car for a longer duration, please go ahead and get a new one as compared to fiddling with the existing setup.

Please review the connector pin-outs once before making the new purchase so you are ready with solutions if you come across any hurdles and try to have the wiring as much 'plug and play' as possible. Avoid any kind of wire stripping or soldering at the OEM harness levels since it would be difficult to revert if the situation arises.

I have seen a couple of installation videos of this product and found its all plug and play system except wirings from cameras which has to be done opening up door trims, orvms etc. Since they have to open up the door trims, I am now thinking of damping the doors also which will reduce sound coming into the cabin. Not yet discussed with the guy or obtained a rate for damping so far. (Festival holiday mood here today/tomorrow)

Update

Have been in discussion with a couple of accessories shops within 3 km radius from my house. Brands discussed are Unplug, Maxxlink, Need for Speed etc.

The shop selling Unplug android unit is not known to me. He quoted to me Rs.36000 all inclusive. Asked them if they can take back my existing Blaupunkt Long Beach 970 which they are not interested.

Maxxlink and Need for Speed (both are manufactured by the same company i.e. Maxxlink international corporation - Need for speed is a premium hence known in different name than MaxxlinK), both units are from one shop.

Maxxlink - 2GB/32GB - Rs.26000
Need for Speed - 4GB/64GB: Rs.35000 - all rates include installation. And this guy is going to let me know if he can take my existing system along with front and rear cameras. I will mostly finalise this one once he gives a final rate with a price for the existing unit.

Further, since in any case they are going to remove the door trim panel etc. for wiring the side cameras, I am planning to do the door damping also. The shop has got the Maaxxlink damping sheet for which they are quoting Rs.1000 per sheet for a 2.2mm thickness which inclusive of installation.

FireShot Capture 304 - maxxlink damping sheet price - Google Search - www.google.com.png

It will take one full day for Android system with 360degree camera installation (door damping job will be done simultaneously with system installation).

Shall keep you informed.

Are you not trying for a DIY this time? For damping at least?![:D]

Since you will be doing damping, please ensure you are there at the time of damping as it is a critical and not so easy work unless corners are cut.

Damping on the outer skin of the door (i.e., part facing the road)

1. Clean the surface with 100% Iso-propyl alcohol first.

2. Cut the damping sheet into 2 pieces i.e., one sheet above the metal rod running across the door and the other piece under the rod.

3. Peel the protective covering and apply the sheets. Use a damping roller over the sheet with even force for proper adhesion.

Damping on the inner skin of the door (i.e., where speakers are mounted)

1. Remove the plastic sheet that is stuck from factory with butyl rubber. Using a knife and Iso-propyl alcohol, clean that surface well. If required use a heat gun to soften the butyl rubber so it comes off easily. Tip: Butyl rubber sticks to itself so using that butyl you can peel it off.

2. Using a newspaper, take the shape of the different holes on the door skin. Using that newspaper as a template, cut the damping sheets and apply on the door skin.

While the door pad is opened, do the wiring for the camera first and then damping in the last after confirming everything is working as it should.

Also don't forget to clean the drain holes located at the base of the door pads. Damping sheets will restrict the flow a bit so ensure there are no dead ends and water can flow from top to bottom easily.

No, I myself don't want to spoil my car[roll]

Regarding door damping - all your points well noted. Will tell the guys in advance what to do.

Knowing that they are going to open up and do lots of works on the car, I have already told him that I don't want any rattling sound after the job.

I know how to catch him If any problem arises after the job as the shop next to him is run by a guy whom I know for 20 years (Aluminium fabrication and related works). He gave me a good certificate about the auto shop guy.

If I search the market further, I may be able to get things done at lesser rate but I want to avoid getting my car done, especially this kind of modification job by unknown shops.

I am still waiting for him to give his final rate after exchanging the existing android system. If all works fine, then the installation will be done on Monday or Tuesday.

Even my hyryder has the 360* camera which I always avoid. It's just a gimmick and another friend of mine having the same car hit a parked auto and damaged the tail light because he was so busy watching the 360* camera. With all these added features and technology it's making life more troublesome for some people.

Yes, if you are going to concentrate much on the camera then definitely you are going to hit someone. These features are mainly to use for convenience rather than enjoying full time. I mostly need this camera for tight parking, narrow road driving etc.

As said previously, my existing system (Blaupunkt Long Beach 970) comes with Anrdoid 6 version which cannot be updated (confirmed this with Blaunpunkt guys). Most of the Apps (WhatsApp, YouTube, etc.) or not working properly now hence I decided to change the head unit. And, in any case, changing to a new head unit, I thought why can't go for advanced features also.

Guys - I have not yet finalised the new Android unit as yet (it has been raining since last few days), but mostly I will settle for Maxxlink Metallic series and only doubt is that whether to go for 2Gb/32GB or 4Gb/64GB version. Mostly, it will be 2Gb/32GB version.

In the meantime, whilst I was checking some other sources, I came to know a way to find out what is the actual memory the unit will have it, though the company claims a higher memory but in reality what sort of memory, we will get it etc. This can be found out by using the app, CPU-Z, and I have installed it in my existing Blaupunkt Long Beach 970 which was described as Android 6 version with 2 GB DDR3 memory + 16GB Flash storage.

See below the reading found by the CPU-z app:

IMG_20230910_173913.jpg

IMG_20230910_173923.jpg

IMG_20230910_173730.jpg

On the paper, the memory was written as 2GB but actually it had only 805 MB and instead of 16 GB internal storage, the actual memory shows as just 3.87GB? No wonder from the beginning It used to take long time to update even one app.

I am shocked to see a premium company like Blaupunkt not able to live with the figures as they mention on their product label, how can we expect cheap and unknown Chinese brands will maintain what they say in the paper.
