@ Appus, were you suggesting this for me?
I saw the low price. Thought of posting if someone needs it :)

You can buy if you are looking for this type. The price is 7.5K & do not know whether you wanted to stretch budget. This is not for those who want to play games. This is not for those who wants a great camera.

This is for those who wants to work on it. 1GB of RAM (memory). 4GB of space which can be upgraded to 32gb. 8500 @ flipkart
GPS/Wifi/Audio-video calling/IPS display/3500mah battery . Android
What else you want under 7499 :)

Re: Which Tablet PC To Buy in India?

Gentlemen/Experts need your inputs, I need to upgrade a 7inch android tablet user to something bigger/better. Budget around 15k. My requirements are :-

1) Good processor adequate for non gaming needs
2) Minimum 1GB DDR3 RAM
3) SIM Slot with calling facility (If its Dual Sim even better) - dont need the dongle ones.
4) GPRS capability
5) GPS
6) A screen size bigger than 7 inch, ideally HD IPS.

Suggestions and advice please ?

mmx one looks good specs wise. aluminium body will add to its appeal.

plus point is 16gb internal memory, 1.2 GHz quad core processor and being 8" with calling facility which is close to your required 10".

battery is less @ 4800mAH but is not a deal breaker. But as you said cell signal is an issue, signal quality/3G/edge will be more taxing on the battery.

ticks all your main requirements and price is also close to your budget @ 16500. should retail less if this is the MRP.
The Micromax one will do the needed.
The MTC Slate will also do the needed.
Galaxy Tab 2/3 will also do the needed.
Got the MMX P650 - thanks a ton for your views guys - was setting up apps etc before i hand over - its pretty decent - though camera seems poor at least indoors, need to try outdoors.

@IR congrats for your new TAB !! can you post few pics of the same and with your initial experience
Well i have already gifted it off, just rooted it and remove couple of junk apps.
With 4.2.1 remember the developer options in android only come when you click 7 times on the build number - someone has been cheeky at google.
Also superoneclick didnt work, early impressions, good screen, decent battery, average to poor camera - touch response pretty good.

how much did it cost iron rock!
15.9k odd at a local shop at Pune

Hello Friends,

My brother-in-law, who is perusing his post graduation from IIM Kozhikode, needs a tablet for his daily uses. He was using a laptop (HP) till now which went dead today and he doesn't wan't to get it repaired again (yes, it had given enough issues). His main needs would be using MS excel, word, p.point and Adobe reader for reading and studying the presentations shared by professors. His typing would be less too. I have suggested him Ipad Mini or the Samsung Tab3 as his budget is around 20K max. Do we have any nice android tabs in this budget? Screen sizes above 7" are preferred. If he agrees to 7" tabs then I'd suggest him to get the current Nexus 7.

It is not very easy to migrate from laptop to tab who does things on word , excel, but it is a good decision once get used. So for the kind of tasks he do every day he needs a 10 " one, 7 would be little difficult.
choose one has more space, ram, battery life.
I prefer Samsung tab over I pad
I have seen a Sony z with our member nitin-k was really good, it is expensive and won't come in that budget.
As even my requirements would be same when I buy a tablet soon, so I did little research on this already.

I agree on this. You need to swype our type everything on screen with your finger(unless you buy a keyboard).
10" or more is the ideal size. Imagine typing (pressing) numbers on the screen. Would be difficult and he may end up buying a laptop soon.

Tablet is for those who are using mainly internet, mails, presentation at times, games , etc.

Typing a whole document, creating presentation would really be a pain.

Even dual core laptops comes in and around 20k.

If I have to suggest, would recommend lenovo yoga 11.6. It is microsoft os with Tegra processor. You can bend 180 degree and use it as a tab or use as a laptop with the built in keyboard. Costs 29990 @ croma. Sleek, neat for an iim guy :-)
