VW Group in China is now on recall path. Volkswagen and its joint venture in China FAW- Volkswagen will recall 5,869 cars due to problems with fuel pumps. The recall, begins on July 8 and includes eight imported Golf Variant produced in June last year, 512 imported Audi A3 40TFSI, made between December 2013 and March last year, 4,377 Golf A7 1.4T, manufactured between April and June last year, as well as 972 Audi A3 35 TFSI made between April and July last year.

Mitsubishi is issuing recall to more than 130,000 cars due to two separate issues that might lead to reduced visibility for drivers and increase the risk of a mishap.

Nearly 77,000 cars are being recalled because the windshield defroster might fail as a result of a faulty blower motor. The cars affected include Lancer model years 2009 to 2011, Lancer Sportback model years 2010 to 2011, Lancer Evolution model years 2010 to 2011 and Outlander Sport model year 2011.

About 53,400 cars are affected by the other recall. Mitsubishi says head lights, tail lights and windshield wipers may not work because of an unstable electronic control unit.

The affected cars include Lancer model years 2009 to 2010, Outlander model years 2009 to 2010, Evolution model year 2010 and Sportback model year 2010.

Toyota has issued a recall for 3.37 million vehicles worldwide. It has recalled 2.87 million cars owing to a likely fault in emissions control units while 1.43 million cars are being recalled due to faulty airbag inflators. Some of the Prius models are likely to contain both the faulty parts. It is not clear if India is a part of the recall. At the time of publishing this report, Toyota India was yet to respond to our queries.

The models being recalled for a likely fault in emissions control units include the Prius, Auris and Corolla models manufactured between 2006 and 2015. The models being recalled for faulty airbag inflators include the Prius and Prius Plug-In Hybrids that were manufactured between 2010 and 2012. The Lexus CT 200h models made between 2011 and 2012 have also been recalled.



In an official release pertaining to the recall in the U.S. market, Toyota says that the curtain shield airbags in the affected vehicles, on both the driver as well as passenger side, come with airbag inflators which comprise of two chambers welded together. On some inflators, there might be a crack in the welded area which can get bigger over time leading both chambers to separate. If this happens, the curtain shield airbags might inflate only partially and in certain limited circumstances one or both chambers could enter the vehicle’s interior. This can increase chances of an injury when the vehicle is occupied.

The carmaker says that it’ll contact the owners of the affected vehicles, and dealers will install retention brackets on the airbag inflators free of cost. The retention brackets have been designed to prevent the chambers from entering the vehicle’s interior if they get separated.

Toyota says that the faulty airbags were not manufactured by Takata and this particular recall is not a part of the ongoing global recall due to faulty Takata airbags.

It’s actually only the first wave (out of four) of the recall which in total affects no less than 108,000 vehicles in the U.S. The front passenger airbag inflators must be replaced on 20,000 Jaguar XFs from the 2009-2011MY and on 34,000 Range Rovers from the 2007-2011MY because there is a risk the inflator housing may rupture.

Volvo is recalling 219,000 cars globally due to a potential fuel leak, with 30,777 UK cars affected.

The recall relates to diesel-engined 2015 to 2016 model year examples of the Volvo V40, V40CC, S60, S60CC, V60, V60CC, XC60, V70, XC70, S80 and XC90 built between 2015 and 2016. In affected cars, a faulty fuel line could develop cracks, allowing fuel to leak into the engine bay.

Subaru, Tesla, BMW, Volkswagen, Daimler Vans, Mercedes and Ferrari are recalling about 1.7 million vehicles to replace potentially deadly air bag inflators made by Takata Corp of Japan.
