Is moving, manually, some best threads from old forum very difficult?
If conents are more, more people will find this forum in their search.

Unfortunately, There is no other way to move threads from old forum by posting them again here by the original topic starter. Like You can notice we have few threads here from old forum - www.theautomotiveindiaforums.com That is also the reason we have not completely shutted down the old forum.

350Z,

I know it might be a long drawn stuff, but can we try to write code that would pick up data from the old forum and auto-create threads/posts here in the new forum?

I could look at this if you think this is feasible and this is built with the technology stack that I know [:)]. Moreover, no harm in trying is what I feel.

Cheers,
Vroom

You're correct but we were previously on a free host, So we don't have any access to the technical part of that forum.

Oh freak!! Then the best way is to automate and open each post via application code in the browser, parse the HTML, pick up content (with all relevant content thru' application code) and create posts / threads here at TAI again using automated code.

Hey Vroom!

Agree that we work for S/W company & we might understand better about tech stack & all those :) but not everyone!

If we try to just manually re-create the useful threads, then it will be great!

There is no point moving everything. Just move the best threads from old forum. It might be 2-3 days effort, but i feel its worth it.

Same question came to my mind also.
I moved 2-3 threads from there in "The Automotive Answer". Let me know guys if that format/way is ok? Otherwise suggestions please.

The way you all are going is correct but I suggest you to avoid copy+pasting the Ownership, Test Drive etc reports which are posted by other members. The information/queries/doubt type topics can be started here.

For the Topic Starters of Ownership/TD reports who haven't yet joined yet, We will try personally contact those members inviting them to join us in this new home.

Another point which I would like to add is do mention the link to old discussion present in previous forum on the threads you start. Also, Avoid posting the topic if it has been started by a member who is already present on this new forum, We can PM them instead and ask to start one again.

I'm really impressed with the co-operation everyone is showing, TAI is proud to have members like you all. [:)]

Not a problem at all. Whatever works faster to get content onto TAI should be fine [:)].

Also, I think it will be great if we track the traffic every month or so. Here's the latest:
