RK, there is no dearth of mobile manufacturers. The ones which advertise more become more famous and reap the benefits, HTC lagged on this part but now their advertising budget has increased tremendously.
One Plus started as a flagship killer but OPO, but with OP2 which is supposedly a 2016 flagship killer, its not even competing with flagships of 2015 specs wise. Moto x style gives it a run for its money.
Along with specs and configuration, we tend to forget the update part which now gains more importance since people want the latest software.

Android OS caches all the important processes and stores it in the RAM for a responsive response when one performs any action, 4GB RAM is not at all required for the time being, because while using the phone, studies have indicated that 3GB of RAM is more than enough for the Phones to work buttery smooth. In many cases 2GB ram is also enough.
battery is again something where there is a lot of scope for innovation.
