But dont fall for the above decarbonisation con regularly, you dont need them not so early atleast, just simply keep the engine oil replaced as per manual and use a good quality one thats it !
Yes thats right.

De-carbonisation, if at all required may be done at 50000 km only.

This is what Tata Motors Customer care say about de carbonisation.

According to them, De carbonising is not part of regular maintenance but a value added service provided by a third party - BARDAHL (similar to body protection treatment or interior detailing by 3M.)

As per Gurrala74, it is a part of the regular maintenance schedule for his Ritz as told to him by Maruti Service center.

It is mentioned during my next service of 20000km, should I go ahead or not, because if I do not get that done, that may tamper my warranty and also it may not be good for the vehicle according to me as I do not have any information that when a engine requires it actually

^^ Is that printed in your manual ? or is it something the dealership are trying to sell ?

Nothing seems to be mentioned on the manual, just see this page where the RED arrow is shown is about 20000km service. 'R' replace, 'I' is inspect

Simply forget it, i doubt any manufacturer will ever put this in a manual for 20k service - they dont make engines out of pepsi tin cans. Its a con! Its nice and easy to tell someone who loves his car to do something like this and it will benefit a lot - easy to fall for it and probably gives mental satisfaction as well but in reality its not at all needed at 20k.

Personally I would probably do something like this post a lakh km or so (assuming i use good fuel/ additives one and off ). I have a sumo which has done nearly 3 lakh kms - havent decarbonised even once. Unless you live in a place which dishes out bad quality adulterated fuel this is not required - especially at 20k it sounds ridiculous! Treat it with the nicest of oil(and other essential fluids) instead she will service you better!

Appu good to see the whity completing 22,500 kms in such short span.

But engine decarbonising was not at all needed is what i feel.

Even i didn't fall prey for engine decarb, as it is not needed if there is no change in engine behaviour.

Based on my usage pattern i go for early engine oil change.

So next time just refuse engine decarb and additives.

IR, Thank you for information, as I was always in a doubt that the service people do some unwanted things and charge us and at times which also spoil the car. I had this doubt always with my previous car(M800) and felt like every time they spoil my car. My in law who uses ZenD never get the car serviced at dealer and instead he will go to a private authorised person who he know or just a mobil care care.

Now I am in a fix as with previous 3 free services on my Ritz I was not satisfied as they never give focus on detailing and end up missing half of the things we tell them and I did not found a great difference after service. So this time I actually wanted to go to a different dealer from present as I lost faith on them(they never do WA,WB and show that they did) OR should I give at a mobil car care. Please advice. Sorry for OT and hijack of Appus thread here

[confused], from where does maruti gives authorization to mobil care? don't fall into the traps please.

Better try other service centers, if nothing works out you have no chance but to service it with mobil car care and to be serviced fully in your presence.

please read the post once again as there are service centers authorized by Maruti who only does service and no sales. I haven't said mobil is Maruti's authorized service set-up.

yeah i will try with new set up this time

The SE not informed me in call about decarbonisation but he informed to my dad. anyhow the service has been completed. from next service I'll check the manual and ask the SE to follow the manual nothing other than that[:)]

@Gurrala: Have you gave any feedback about the unsatisfied work from MASS. Is there any response?

Well going to a authorised service centre during warranty period becomes a bit inevitable for obvious reasons. The trick is to maintain good relations with a floor guy/lead mechanic and i also remain with the car all the time.
There is a lot of wrong doings that happen in service centres(all of them).
The actual standard service work hardly happens for an hr or so (may be 2) - rest of the time the vehicle is standing and doing nothing or misused for personal reasons of the dealership staff.

If you arent happy with the dealership simply move on to another, if your relation is damaged with a dealership then simply move on, i wouldnt risk sending my car to someone i have already exchanged foul pleasantries with. When it comes to my car i dont trust anybody. The ultimate peace of mind is to tick off all service items yourself and see it happening in front of you.

I totally agree with you IR, I've experienced the same scenario with my two wheelers.

My 2wheeler Glamour is being serviced by Hero moto corp from past 8years, still it is strong and study. but, My Dad's Super splendor is serviced by well known local mechanic for past 5years, but still I'm totally not satisfied with it. even both are having same engine.

So I prefer company service by any cost.

@Gurrala: If you are not satisfied with your service center. Please check other MASS which is available in your locality.

In any case do spend some time at the service centre while the service is on, we attend birthdays of our near and dear(brother/sister/own wife/neighbour's wife etc) ones once an year , so i see no harm taking a few hours of your life for your car whom you arguably :tongue: love more than them.
