@goencho, good development indeed.
Till you get the safari back, let us know your driving impression about Manza from a SUV driver POV.

I got a call today whether I have got my loaner and to assure me that my car is getting fixed under goodwill warranty.

I did not get a chance to discuss the towing charges again but I'll sure bring it up next time.Anyways the repairs will be carried out for free by Tata under goodwill warranty.

@tornado: Driving a Manza is completely different,I've got a petrol one so its silent and quiet .Completely different from what I'm kind of used to. First time I started the car, didn't believe it was a product of Tata. The only problem with it is that its as big as a boat.

I wish that your Safari should be restored to Normal.

Sad to hear your ordeal.

Don't you have other option to try a different workshop, as i feel the work they would have carried has done more harm to your car.

So find an alternate dealer, after this repair.

Wish you miles of Safe & Happy motoring.

mukeshus, Thank you for your concern. Unfortunate for Goa there is only one proper authorized TASS capable enough to repair and to do warranty claims and that is where the problem is first of all. No one in Goa intends to go for a Tata just cause there is a sole dealership, unlike Maruti where there are dealerships belonging to 3 different people,Hyundai 2 different and so on. I've heard from other Tata owners that the Manikbag dealership in Belgaum about 130kms away from my place is consistent and good so I guess I'll give it a try.

Sad to hear about your ordeal and on a three occassions.
Finally tata motors are listening and getting your car reparied under warranty which is a good news. Also do ask about the towing charges you had to bear, and keep us upating about the work going on your car.

Well just to update this thread:

As per the S.A. the work is in progress and I will be getting the car by Thursday morning. He also said that the oil and filter will have to be changed and I'd have to pay for that.

O.T. After I came out from the TASS an old gardener lady(working in the garden of the TASS) who had seen me last week giving the S.A. and the rest a earful asked me whether my car was done yet, I told her "does anything get done here on time", The lady with an awkward smile said"these guys will never improve." Tata if you're reading this, Shame on you!

Told you complaining on social networking would get good results. Please take it in writing on the dealership's letterhead that your vehicle has been repaired properly and similar failure is not likely to occur during the next xxxxx kilometres.

Now for an update:

Went to the TASS today to check upon the car progress, the car has got the new f kit and all HLA's replaced and it starts. But now a new problem.

The technicians had taken the car on a test drive and according to them, the car gives more black smoke then usual, there is a knocking sound heard every now and then. They mentioned that the Injector Calibration will have to be done.

I spoke to Mr. Zuber Khan Pathan, who is the Workshop Manager who told me that Tata wont be covering this, I asked him how is this possible, this problem is an after effect of the timing belt issue and must be covered by them. The vehicle did not have any knocking sounds nor did it have anything to do with black smoke before this happened then why do I pay for something that is caused due to no fault of mine. Secondly this repair will cost upto 20K.

Mr. Zuber also said that when he worked on Safari's with the same problem,90% of the vehicles had to undergo injector calibration and he did mention this to the Area manager, but he told him to first repair the vehicle and then lets see if it was the same case for mine too.

So now I need our suggestions guys as to what should I do next. What are my options.

Do the same things that you did earlier:

1. Speak to the Area Manager. Tell him politely BUT firmly that this is nonsense and you will take up the issue with higher ups in Tata if he is unable to resolve it.

2. Put this up on Tata Facebook page and Tweet Karl Slym.

3. Post a link to this thread everywhere.

Hi goencho,
I would suggest you inform the higher ups regarding the new development and also tell the service guys that if so they want you to pay for the new problem, that you want the vehicle to be cross checked by your known mechanic to confirm yourself that this problem did or did not arise from the earlier problem. This should have a good result and make them to do job without making you to shell out money
Thankyou
satyabobby9.

Update

Got a mail and confirmation from the Area Service Manager as follows:

Sir,

We will take care of injector requirements….

With Regards

Cijin Thomas
Area Service Manager
So now that's a relief, regaining some trust in Tata after all this fiasco. [thumbsup]

Went to see the vehicle today, according to the service advisor, the injectors have been forwarded for calibration job and expected in a day or two and will probably get the car back in 3 days(fingers crossed)[confused]

New Update.

To update this thread, got a call from the TASS CRM stating that they have received a part confirmation for the injector work and are waiting for the full confirmation and is only expected by Saturday or Monday morning. What is with Tata I don't understand, something is wrong with this vehicle, you fix it and solve your issues with the dealer later. Don't harass a customer cause his mistake was only that he bought a Tata vehicle[frustration]. Its been the end of the third week since I gave the TASS the car,and like always getting only promises of the not-so-bright future.

Have a heart. You have at least reached from nowhere to somewhere; you will also reach from somewhere to your destination.

Confucious tip: "When give Tata vehicle to Tata Service Centre, go check vehicle once in a while."
