Voted for the Ford EcoSport. The availability of a proper 6-speed torque converter automatic and the presence of a strong safety package in the form of 6 airbags, Traction Control and ESP in the latest Titanium Plus variant, are enough to make the EcoSport my pick in this segment.

Autocar reviews Ecosport says Ecosport is winner,

@Kasscon
yes there is more changes than a regular TiCVT but as far as engine tech goes, its still a simple Naturally Aspirated engine, no forced induction, no force fed rotors, just air+fuel+spark plug= power, the Tata is more complex motor just like an ecoboost being more complex motor,

Now one thing also to note is resale value
View attachment 235685
Ecosport has become one of best in India, even beating prominent player like Maruti,
True its till not Toyota reliable, has some issues, but its any day more reliable than Tata and has more resale because it has been consistent, the only Ford product other than 2006 Fiesta and 2010 Figo that has proven this strong is Ecosport, its Fords biggest money maker, so yes it does have a fairly high resale value.

But in reality this review has confused me even further, because I am a sucker for FUN to drive cars and even though Renuka isnt the last word on this count, it does pose a question in me, TATA or FORD!![confused]
Exactly and I would like to add, Ford's engines are already doing rounds in the international market so its certainly fairly well tested given the stricter norms and regulations there
Also seeing the quality, fit and finish etc, if I were to take a chance with a non-Japanese/Korean brand and lose out on resale, after sales etc in some manner, its definitely Ford that I would take the chance with

It's a close fight between Ecosport and Nexon for me.

Nexon
- Looks futuristic
- Lands down has better diesel engine
- Quality of interiors is superior
- Rear seat is more comfortable and slightly more wide to accommodate 3 passengers
- Super VFM

Ecosport
- Looks macho and aggressive
- Loaded with features with best in class 8" touchscreen
- Offers petrol with AT (thankfully not AMT)
- Loaded with safety features in top variant
- Superior ride and handling

For me, safety is of utmost importance hence Ecosport wins for me and voted for me

Re: Tata Nexon vs Ford Ecosport vs Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Honda WRV vs Mahindra TUV3

Firstly, Thanks Vaibhav for starting this thread. Probably will be most helpful for me as i'll be able to learn what experienced people have to say about the two most favoured cars in this segment, which has really made me MAD from last 1-2 weeks as i'm about to purchase my first car [frustration]

However, in most of the buying deal of any car in India is where the stakeholders (Wife, Parents, family members, friends & business partners) play a major role and it happens when you purchase something else wherein your choice is something else.

It happened to me lot of times ie I wanted to own Safari Storme & my dad was dead against it and I went for my another choice Chevy Sail sedan (I liked the looks of black beauty). In another purchase, my cousin wanted to own Baleno(tin can) but my choice was i20 and he went for i20. Still, I will own Safari again, maybe in new iteration[:D]
So depends.
To be honest, same thing is happening with me rite now. Wifey doesn't like nexon looks & exteriors and wants me to go either for ecosport or scross. I also like the ecosport diesel (titanium except why no rear parking cam [roll]) but something in me is saying nexon will be a better complete package (specially after 2 TDs)

PS: for this thread specific, i voted for Ecosport as of now coz this seems to be my next car (though i also liked butch stylling, comfortibililty and build of the car better than nexon) with close second will be Nexon

It is surprising that Brezza got zero votes and it is most popular car.

In comparison to Eco Sport and Nexon, Brezza does feel outdated now. Whether it is Engine, Performance, Looks and Features or Price the Brezza definitely needs a big time revision compared to main competitors. The launch price of Nexon Rs. 5.85 Lacs is yet unmatched by anyone so it is to be seen if MSIL can come close or not with the Brezza's facelift in future. Secondly, if we compare it to Eco Sport, Ford launched this C-SUV without a price change in base version. So, again, it will be interesting to see if MSIL can launch the new Brezza at the same introductory price as this present one. If it is to be compared with the cars like TUV-3OO then the only plus point for Brezza I feel is the 3 Cylinder engine of TUV Vs 4 Cylinder of Brezza otherwise if you see, the TUV design still looks better to me than Brezza and an added provision of a 3rd row seat in TUV makes it a notch better than Brezza. However, Brezza looks better than WR-V to me yet it misses out on bigger diesel mill, option of petrol engine and most importantly option of automatic transmission. The more MSIL delays the launch of revamped Brezza, the more competition it would have to face.

Regards

Akash

That's the sad reality my friend. On forums like these, people vote with their heart but when it comes to buying a car, mind takes the driver seat in most cases. I am not terming it as wrong but that sure is the reality. When actually buying, people look for more aspects than just the product i.e. brand image/perception, social status, social pressure, resale value, fuel efficiency and what not.

When it comes to Maruti, in the real my friend bought a Brezza ZDI cause

1) They got extra Rs. 50k for thier old Ritz. and the old car was taken as down payment for the Rest of car for which the Maruti dealer arranged Finance.
2) It was a combined deal where a Celerio Automatic was purchased for his father.

In soo many ways combined with the reliability of Maruti, wide dealership network, cash savings at the time of purchase, most people will settle for a Maruti product in the real world even if it is not their first choice.

Compare this with my Ecosport Purchase in 2014, all Ford dealer did was contact a used car dealer for my old car who bargained and purchased it, no discounts or low Interest rate Finance arrangement. I had to arrange the cash.

When we are discussing Maruti other than the engineering aspects we need to look at the VFM, Financing and wide distribution network of Maruti dealers with a huge existing base of customers to deal with. In fact most customers who already own Altos, Swifts etc will first discuss with thier Maruti dealer before approaching another brand.

I voted for the Tata nexon. It's a great product and no doubts TML service is improving . I hope Tata adds 6 airbags to their nexon during the facelift. [:)]
It is really surprising to see Maruti Suzuki brezza get 0 votes [surprise]

Just off the topic but new S-Cross (zeta) can come in the same price range as of EcoSport topend. Why s-cross is not present on this poll, just wondering? Any day it's better than berezza ( i understand 1.6 engine was crowd favorite which is not present now).

While looking out for new car, i also TD S-Cross as well. I got confused between ES & Nexon else i felt s-cross was a very good option to go for as well (though imho only)

The poll is for under 4 meter urban crossovers/SUV's and scross is not from the same segment.

yes confused

This is exactly what's happening with me. Being an enthusiast I thought I'll love the nexon Diesel on the TD. But I was wrong. The brezza felt better. I guess I'll have to TD the nexon a few times More.
