I personally don believe these crash ratings! A car must feel solid when you touch it and use the doors , it should be able to withstand the minor impacts and should not break or make a dent!

Crash tests are done to assess the following:

  • whether survival zone remains intact - doors open easily or not or imapct on integrity of car like A pillar, roof
  • impact of crash on dummies - as this extrapolated to assess severity of impact on human beings from steering wheel , door trims, dashboard etc in a crash
  • whether crumple zone crumple in a set manner or not and its ablity to absorb force of impact
  • What is the impact an Pedistrian in an accident?
  • To develop more safe cars.
Now coming back to topic - I feel Maruti will not launch VVT version now but in second facelift it will launch. Also be ready to have indicator stalks on left side [surprise] - Even Kizashi imported from Japan has indicator stalks configured to left hand drive

I respect those crash tests but in high speed crashes the damages depends on your luck a lot! Even a 5-star accredited car can be crushed during high speeds!

And also i20 has been awarded 5 or 6 stars in these tests if i am right , but have you tested the build quality of it? Even a small knock from a bike can dent the body pretty badly! Sorry no offence meant to any i20 owners!

That is why i personally believe a car might have even 10 airbags but its the build quality also which is equally important! Again these are just my views , i respect these crash tests but i don believe in them completely!

Next generation Suzuki Swift to launch in 2016

According to a report on Italian website AlVolante, the next generation Swift would be ready by 2016. Suzuki started production of the current generation Swift in Hungary in mid-2010 and commenced manufacturing in Manesar in mid-2011.

Unsurprisingly, the new Swift managed to improve on its predecessor’s groundwork and became India’s best selling car for a brief period.

The Japanese company has not faithfully followed a 6-8 year lifecycle that most automakers plan with their compact cars, some of them have lived along with their predecessors, while some have been around for over 10 years.

There’s a Suzuki product in India that’s going strong for over 25 years!

The Swift brand is perhaps the most important nameplate in the Suzuki family today. Over 3 million copies are on global motorways today and to secure its future, Suzuki have to keep refreshing and updating it to the changing needs and trends.

There are no details technical available on the Swift replacement but looking at some of the concepts brought to recent motorshows, Suzuki is bound to develop electric and hybrid propulsion systems for cars in the B- and C-Segment.

The Swift hybrid, based on the previous generation model, was displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo last year, as part of the SIAM technology day. At the Tokyo Motor Show in 2011, a plug-in Swift hybrid concept was shown. Slowly but surely, the Swift will move from just being a petrol or a diesel car.

The S-Cross Concept that premieres in Geneva in a few weeks may give us a glimpse into what could inspire the next generation Suzuki family.

As the Maruti Swift is India’s favorite family car, what would you like to see Suzuki/Maruti do differently with the next generation Swift?

Maruti Swift facelift accidentally revealed

Swift facelift revealed. The current version of the Maruti Swift came into existence in 2010 and that means its facelift time!

What you see here are unintentionally revealed images of the Suzuki Swift facelift. Suzuki Belgium’s website had for some reason floated the images of the facelifted car on air for a brief moment. That’s long enough for curious net surfing souls to get hold of it!

As you can see from the images, Suzuki hasn’t fiddled with the car’s appearance. The refresh deals only with adding few minor details to the car. Suzuki thinks why mend something that ain’t already broken and we think that’s a sensible thought process.

The original design or shape of the hatchback struck a chord with the global audience and that’s one reason why the current generation model resorted to an evolutionary approach. And that’s also the reason why the facelift doesn’t try to change things dramatically.

The immediately noticeable change is the inclusion of ‘L’ shaped daytime running LED lights in the foglight enclosures. The turn indicators in the front fenders have been moved to the ORVMs. The new golden brown color option looks cool! The side and rear remains completely intact and even the interiors are expected to remain largely similar.

The hatchback would continue as it is even under the skin. The global models will be powered by the same 1.2 litre K-Series motor which produces 94 bhp and the 1.3 litre DDIS oil burner which makes 74 bhp. Back in India, the petrol motor develops 86bhp. The 5-speed manual transmission is the same too.
The 2014 Suzuki Swift is likely to make its official world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September with sales commencing in late 2013.

2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift revealed

Suzuki Unveiled the third generation of swift in 2010. Last week we reported about Suzuki working on the facelift version of Swift. Now Suzuki German website has revealed the Swift facelift. Suzuki hasn’t made any changes for the swift design. Swift is always famous for the sharp looks. So engineers doesn’t have to do anything on looks. To go with the current trend of LEDs. Suzuki has given L-shaped LED Lights in the fog lamps. This is a copy cat from the Hyundai i20. Hyundai added LED lights to i20 last year.

Apart from the LEDs the Indicators are now placed in OVRMs from the front wheel arches. Side and rear of swift remains to be same. Globally Swift Facelift comes with a new golden shade. We hope that it will come to India also. Details about the Interior are not available now. But we can expect the interior to be remain the same. Mechanically swift is unchanged. Engines remains to be the same. 1.3 L Multijet Diesel engine and the 1.2 L K-Series engine. In India we can expect Maruti to introduce Automatic gearbox in the petrol version. Swift facelift will make its global debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor show.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift revealed

Why don't they provide a better powerful version along with the current one? [evil]
I guess its time they should do that considering the Polo TSI, Punto 90hp, Vista D90 etc.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift revealed

When I saw this facelift for the first time I thought maybe OP posted a wrong picture but ,after reading a couple of comments it seems that 2014 Swift will look something like 2010 Swift oh ...wait something like it or is it exactly like 2010 Swift.
I think Suzuki should take facelift lessons from Maruti and come up with a sticker job [frustration] to at least differentiate between these two twins.
I know a person in my colony who has got DRL's in his Swift (after market job) they look exactly similar to the ones in 2014 Swift, so I may ask him to file a case against Suzuki for plagiarism.

Previous images were leaks. Suzuki has now officially unveiled a mild makeover of Swift. There are strong possibilities of Maruti Suzuki launching the same in India soon.
