On Saturday, I visited once again Showroom on Saturday. The sales guy, asked for test drive once again. Now the greedy person inside me woke up once again to get this gem of engineering. This is not a sprinter but it's an all rounder and built to last for decades. The build quality and fit and finish is more than perfect. Knock on the tank, you will feel the gauge of steel used.

It's not so fancy, modest in look and big on performance. All the gear shifts are so smooth and feel power at each of gears.

Out of curiosity, visited Bajaj Pro Biking and saw Duke/Ninja. Duke is no where match with Inazuma in terms of beauty and built but it has angry engine. I did not even ask for a ride even if they price KTM390 at 1.5 lakhs also it will not attract me, may be I am boring or done with that kind of bikes.

Ninja 300, awesome and look like real sport bike but it is too pricey for me - 4lakhs. If I have 4 lakhs then I can add some more get base of Harley. These are distant dream so did not bother for test ride.

Funny part : I went on my new Vespa S and showrooms guys asked for test ride of my personal vehicle. 1 from Suzuki and 2 guys from Bajaj Pro Biking rode my scooter and they were mightly impressed with quality but shocked with price.

2 guys were booking Pulsar 220 and they came out to have a look of my scooter. Matte Black color has attracted them.

Yes, an endearing trait.

Exactly the kind of customer Suzuki are looking at.

I wish Sam that I could have this in my parking lot by this time but there are several other constraints which is not allowing me go for it. In past I was very impulsive and pampered kid but now story is different.

But trust me by next year march, I will have this if I do not opt for any long term onsite.

The Duke is the bike to go for if you are in college, and are into bling, and you use the bike only for College to home purpose.

But if you are matured, and eat miles for breakfast(i.e if you're a tourer), go for the Inazuma with your eyes closed.

The Inazuma is an ideal upgrade from a ZMR.
Because you bought a ZMR and not a R15, shows a lot about what kind of a rider you are.

What happened to Suzuki Inazuma?

Hi Guyz!
I got a hot and surprising news while surfing the Internet.
Suzuki Inazuma Vanishes from Official Website![surprise]

Okay, something is not right… Suzuki India has quietly taken the Inazuma off its website! You don’t see it on the home page where Suzuki’s whole lineup is displayed, including the superbikes, and its name isn’t there in any of the drop down tabs as well (It was there earlier!).
However, a standalone official page does exist for the Inazuma, complete with specifications, colours, price, brochure, and dealer info as before. The drop down tabs for the price details work and I checked the ex-showroom price in Delhi, which came out to be INR 2,09,374. But the question still remains, why it’s nowhere mentioned or featured with other Suzuki products?
Its initial pricing had made it the butt of jokes upon launch, and the lack of marketing post the serious price-cut has also contributed to the dismal sales. If its vanishing act from Suzuki’s website does not correspond to company’s pulling the plug on it soon, it can certainly do with some extensive promotion that highlights the bike’s strong points where it indeed is real strong.
What do you think about this? Is Suzuki trying to pull out Inazuma from the Indian Market?[confused][roll]

Suzuki Inazuma has not been able to catapult the company’s rankings in the quarter-litre motorcycle segment of the Indian two-wheeler market. A hefty price tag and old-school design did not attract many customers. And now, there is a very good possibility that the Japanese two-wheeler major may be planning to pull out the product from the Indian market. This is what happened

here's what the experts think why it failed. The Suzuki Inazuma is one hell of a motorcycle. The 248cc 4-stroke, two-cylinder engine on the Inazuma packs loads of torque throughout the RPM range. Put the motorcycle in fourth gear and you get access to a wide speed range starting from 30kph all the way to 100kph! The upright riding stance, clubbed with a seat that is as big as a couch, provides comfort even on long journey. The 13.3 litre fuel tank provides a long range. The Inazuma is targeted at people who appreciate function over form, people who do not buy motorcycles for the sole purpose of posing next to. You can park your Inazuma in a parking lot without a worry in the world, as it’s too inconspicuous to grab unwarranted attention.

One can argue that the KTM 390 Duke is a better motorcycle for the price it is sold for, but then it fails to provide comfort on long highway journeys. Also, all the power is placed in the top end band of the RPM range which is not a touring friendly attribute. The Kawasaki Ninja provides for the twin-cylinder fun but is absurdly priced at close to Rs 4 lakh. The Karizma R and ZMR are too low on power and seriously need some muscle upgrade if they even want to present themselves as serious contenders. Which brings the CBR250R into the picture which is the closest competitor to the Inazuma. But the single cylinder setup makes the Honda look rather lacklustre as compared to twin pot Inazuma. RE’s? Well, let’s not get there.

So, despite being such a great product, why did the Inazuma fail so miserably?
The Suzuki Inazuma was declared dead on arrival by the industry experts as soon as it was launched, thanks to the high price tag of Rs 3.61 lakh (on-road Mumbai). For that price, tag you could have bought a KTM 390 Duke or a CBR250R and still have saved tens of thousands of rupees which you could have invested in safety gear and fuel for years to come. The absence of premium features like LED tail lights and turn indicators, upside down forks and maybe a windshield for wind protection didn’t quite help the motorcycle’s cause much either.

The Japanese term ‘Inazuma’ means lightening. Unfortunately, the motorcycle from Suzuki didn’t quite stand true to its name in terms of sales. In fact, the Inazuma seems to have been stuck by lightening, if the sales numbers are anything to go by. The Suzuki Inazuma was bashed by many in the motorcycle community because of its old school looks and high pricing. But, in the times of almost non-existing pillion seats and absolute lack of engines with a solid low and mid-range grunt, the Suzuki did, for once present itself as a strong option. Alas, the top honchos at Suzuki couldn’t see the opportunity.

As a corrective measure, Suzuki chopped the price of the Inazuma by about a lakh of rupees bringing it down to a more affordable Rs 2.61 lakh (on-road Mumbai). Unfortunately, even with all the strengths of the product, it was too little, too late. Introducing the Inazuma in the Rs 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh (on-road Mumbai) price zone at the very outset may have changed the picture for Suzuki altogether. However, for a price sensitive market like India, pricing a product high during its introduction gets the coffin nailed without any questions asked. It is sad, really, to see such a great product die a quiet death.

Re: What happened to Suzuki Inazuma?

Two reasons why it was a flop and will continue to be so
1. The ugliest head lamp design (I want to kill them for this )
2. The initial pricing and the reduced pricing both are high this bike should not have came in the CKD route
3. Again the head light if you guys can design like this why the hell would do injustice to Inazuma

@maximas007 its not only the headlight design that mattered for its failure.it would have been the least of the cause for failure. The price is what killed it which was topped by lack of Advertising. The Time it was launched.

For me it was the head light buddy I was ready to buy it in the initial stage but didn't like the head light design at all rest all are OK .But also the initial price was a suicide attempt by Suzuki .[frustration]

Still even at this price and loads of ads it wont sell anyway.Change the way the bike looks for gods shake and relaunch it with the same mechanics and the present price or a 20 k lesser
