Hello Guys
Just experienced the real power of my Rapid. Touched 150 KMPH speed on Pune - Nagar Highway. It was great acceleration and never felt like I touched 150. Car was as stable as it should be.
Will try to break this record on Pune Mumbai Highway once I plan my Mumbai trip.
Car has now completed 8000 Kms.

Quick Update on my recent trip to hometown
Hello Everyone,
For Gauri Ganpati Festival, I had a trip planned to my hometown which is 500 KMS from Pune (Akola in MH state). This time I was very excited as this will be another long drive for me with my Rapid. Also, I was a little nervous as we had our grandma as a company who is 94 years old.
So we had 3 generations in my car that day. First- my 4 years old daughter. Second - Me and my wife and third – Grandma.
Now this was real test of my driving and rear seat comfort.
Preparations for the Trip – Few days back, the front left rim had a bend as I had a very hard hit in one big pot hole when I was returning back from Airport after dropping my friend at 4.30 AM. Though, when it happened I did not realized the extent because of good suspension but when I looked at the rim in day light, I said to myself “Man how can you drive like this” and cursed myself for this mistake. Then did some analysis on how it happened and realized that real culprit was the headlight not me. So immediate action points were
  • Get the WA and WB done ASAP with removal of rim bend
  • Change / Upgrade the lights
Firstly, I got the WA and WB done at Darshan Tyres Kothrud. Total cost for WA + WB + 90 GMS of Weight + Tyre Rotation + Rim Bend Removal was 400 INR. Very reasonable.
Then started my hunt for Change or Upgrade of the lights. Firstly I thought of upgrading the light to 90/100 bulbs with cutout. Though this is best option for night vision, ruled this out for warranty purpose. So changing the lights was only option. Checked in different forums and zeroed down on Philips Xtreme vision+ 55/60. The cost for a set of 2 is 1200 INR and this has resulted in good though not great night vision. I can say the improvement in night vision is around 20% for me.
Day before the drive, checked the air pressure in all 4 tyres and kept 33 PSI for front and 32 PSI for rear as we had lot of luggage.
Now it was all set for the long drive for me.
We started early in the morning at 5:30 AM sharp to avoid any traffic in Pune. With constant speed of 80-100, we reached Aurangabad at 9 AM sharp. We took a break in Aurangabad as I wanted to visit my friend’s home. We started from Aurangabad at 10.15 AM and reached home at 2.30 PM.
After reaching home, my rapid passed the test for rear seat comfort as it was certified as very good car by grandma. For me it was ultimate test as for her age the rear seats has to be very comfortable. After reaching home, I kissed my Car and thanked Skoda for making a very good product.
Some stats – Total distance covered 502 KMS.
  • Total journey time – 9 Hours
  • Driving Time excluding breaks – 8 Hours Approx
  • Average KM per Hour – 62.75
  • Overall FE with 100% AC - 17.8 KMPL
The FE was little less but I would blame bad roads after Aurangabad for this and surprisingly we had to pay toll for those bad road.
One interesting observation I had during this travel. Till Aurangabad with good roads (4 lane with road divider almost all thru the road) I paid toll of around 100 Rs for 250 KMS and for next 250 KMS (2 lane with very bad roads in many patches and mostly not good road) I paid 120 Rs of toll. Was really frustrated with system apathy here. Not sure if all those tolls are authorized or not.
After coming back to Pune, I observed that very quickly the odo has crossed 9000 KM mark. By the time I am writing this review, the odo has reached 9800 KMS. So eagerly waiting for first milestone of 10K KMS for my Rapid.

Hello Everyone, Need Help

Seems that "mere Madhuri ko kisiki najar lag gayi" . Since last week, I am facing few glitches with no complete resolution as such.

Last week while on my way back home from office, the ECU disturbed light (coil light in yellow) flashed. Immediately I pulled over and switched off the engine. Waited for 5 mins and restarted the car. To my surprise the warning was gone. I ignored it as one off the incidents and moved on. Since that day, I noticed a sudden difference in car's response.. It was like the car seemed to be losing the power and had to struggle out to accelerate the car (I am exaggerating little bit here). I could figure out that the engine is struggling in this situation.
The NVH levels also increased drastically and I could feel vibrations.
Next day, the ECU disturbed light came again and this time, I figured out that it shows up when I reach the speed of 70-80 KMPH.
Next day, took the car to Asset Auto service center. Overall onboarding experience was good. Now a days they treat you with respect. SA listened to the complaints and put the car for OBD scanning. Here was the catch, instead of finding the root cause, the mechanic there just did the reset of error and said all is well. I believed him (dont know why I did that). Car behaved well for first 50 kms and then suddenly the same problem. This time coil light and another warning light of Engine control or emission control system disturbed which was persistent there.
Again, next day took the car to service center. Again, customer reception was good. Again the SA listened to complaint patiently and another job card created. They cleaned the air intake and did the trouble shooting (?) in ECU and put the ECU on adapt mode. I kept my fingers crossed and took the delivery of my car next day.

This time, from the start I felt like the car had been messed up by these guys. The car had lot of vibrations with too much of engine noise as if I am sitting right into the engine bay, car was knocking at low speeds and it was frustrating drive.

Again back to service station, again same story. After initial discussions with their QA in-charge, SA and Asst Service Manager went for the test ride today with SA and QA Incharge. Explained all problems and QA Incharge asked me not to rev the car in second gear above 2000 rpm I said what the ****. Then after some deliberations, he agreed there is a pb and again new job card is prepared. My car now needs lot of wishes and prayers to support as I am sure that car needs dua also with some dawa.
Have asked following things to my SA to check
1. Engine mounting
2. Fuel injectors
3. ECU errors
4. Turbo

Waiting for the response from them. I think this will be a long journey for me and my car. I will keep all of you posted. Need inputs from forum experts for suggestions if I need to check anything else as well. Also if someone from Rapid owners faced this issue pls let me know how it was resolved by your service center.

P.S. - For both earlier services, I got a call from Asset auto about the feedback. I think this is a right step. Let's see how responsive they are on technical front.

I am guessing that if resetting the ECU error has led to normal drive for 50kms, there is nothing wrong with the mechanical set up. My guess is that there is some internal electrical fault. Did you do any modifications or installations lately that would have effected the electrical set up?

Hello Rightnow
Thanks for quick inputs. There is no electrical modifications done in last 5 months. Only thing that happened was the fuse for HU was changed. Will this have any impact?

I feel there might be some problem in the electricals possible fuel injection.

Also resetting is a shortcut. I feel you should insist for a complete diagnosis through the odb scanner.

That reset measure is a temp job which might hurt your engine in the long run.
Do not ignore that.

I don't think installing stereo would have any impact.

Just searched for some solutions to your problem. As far as I understand your problem as you mentioned 'yellow coil', represents a 'glow plug system failure'. Check this link for manual:
https://mediaportal.skoda-auto.com/...pid/07-2012/Manual/A05_Rapid_OwnersManual.pdf

go to page 21 and see the right side section.

As per my googling, you need to check the following:

- Working of the head lights and tail lights
- working of indicators front and rear

If you notice any loose connections in any of the lights, or any rusting on any of the bulbs- that unit is the culprit. Ask your workshop guys to check these things first before they do anything complex. Do it right now please!!

Thanks Rightnow for your explaination and supporting manual. I think I have old version with me. After reading it I realized why car is behaving like this. ( Emergency drive pgm is active). I asked my SA to chk the loose connections. But the para 3 on page exactly explains the pb in my car.

I wanted you to check asap so that workshop people don't do any major replacements of any sort if its only minor lighting problem.

Also, forgot to mention- check that the brake light is glowing at rear when brakes are applied.

Do you really trust the work shop guys? Do you think they will check these connections just by your request on phone? Better you visit them once.

I happened to check all my lighting yday by accident. I dont think there is any loose connections but I asked them to re-check. Also while creating job card the SA had done this. And believe me they will not touch the car till tmrw. Highly overloaded team.

Thanks for that rightnow.
I just had a word with SA and god he has no knowledge abt ECU etc things. He is completely dependant on tech guys in workshop for this. Only good part is the assist manager there knows me due to my association with TML earlier. Just wish that the issue is minor.

Hello Everyone,
Got my car on Saturday evening. Could not drive it on sunday. Wanted to update all of you only after I complete at least 100 KMS of drive. So here is the latest update.

At service station, they claim that they did VAS scan, checked everything and done the trial run. ALL WAS FOUND OK. I was pretty nervous while taking the car back home.
During initial drive, I felt that there is improvement in the car. Though they claim nothing is done, I am sure some tweaking is done. The car was back to normal with very less or no vibrations and NVH levels are also back to normal. I was curious. Did drove the car thru dense traffice 50 mins for 7 kms due to traffic jam in Hinjewadi, then took the car for quick drive on highway where I crossed 100 KMPH speed. Car is responding well. I hope this continues.
Only issue that still I face is in the mornings. When I start the car, there is knocking for first minute or so. After this initial hickup everything works fine. Is this because of cold weather? But this should not be the case. Did anyone is facing similar issue? This issue started coming since the temp. dropped in pune.
Apart from above, everything is going good. Will keep you all posted.

Hello Rightnow and Superbad,
Thanks for your inputs.
