It's the same in hyundai as well.

The rear disc pads costed 4500 rs from hyundai because they are imported. I got them for i think 2900 rs with kia packaging instead of hyundai.

In delhi every oe , oem parts are easily available at kashmeri gate market.
Isn't kashmeri gate market famous for duplicate and cheap spares and radiators?

There are many other good shops like swauto motors and 1 another which deals only in hyundai.
i guess there could be some shops which might be selling counterfeit parts but not these.
.
anyways lets not go more OT. you can discuss in my thread if you want.

In Delhi, mumbai, chennai it is easy to get oe parts but in pune it was difficult. I went to buy parts in top auto store in pune but he tried to sell me local parts. He even said that thesr parts wont last as oem so i bought it online. Mumbai aldo one hour from my place so next time i will try mumbai.

Hyundai sell oe parts outside service center so its bit easy to get hyundai parts outside. In casr of vw, skoda, mahindra. Renault it is tough as these brands wont sell outside

Yes I can understand about the parts availability.

Swauto was giving me pads for 1500 rs and told me it's oem(both for the front and the rear) and packaging said mando.

Now obviously I thought how can oem part cost 1500rs when hyundai is selling for 6000rs.

When mechanic removed the wheel , the caliper read "mando" [lol]

So if you decide to buy something it will be beneficial to know the oem beforehand.

Parts i bought are cost 20% less than ass price, some parts are costly than parts used in indian service centers but labour charges will be very less. Skoda will take 10000 for whole suspension change but outside it cost me 3500 from the guy who was service head at skoda for 5 years.

Agreed.
Asc are always the costliest.

I have tried bosch service center and even though the rates are relatively cheaper than asc , local mechanics still are the least expensive just like you said.
I got all my cars serviced from bosch only once.

But on a Wednesday I saw bosch mechanics at the local car market. Wednesday is their weekly off and from that day I have been getting my verna serviced from him.
Obviously I trust the mechanic since I have seen him working on bmw and audi too.
So yeah I got bosch experienced mechanics [:D]

Bosch charges 750rs for a small car dry clean and 1200 rs for a sedan. give the same wash guy 400rs for full dry clean plus exterior wash and wax. 600rs for verna.

Just got the verna dry cleaned this Wednesday. Car will be 5 years old this February.
plus interior clean and polished plus outer wash and wax of my figo for 200rs. And they use the same chemical bosch uses. ( don't think they buy it from bosch :p)

You have lot of experiance regarding car repair. Can you tell me if indian mechanics use torque wrenches or not?
Most of mechanic i have seen use normal wrench or imacy wrench to tight the nut and bolt.

Yes I do.
I don't trust the mechanics so most of the time I stay with the car if there is no other important work for me to do. (Mostly sunday's)

And no I don't think local mechanics use torque wrench. They tighten it according to them. They are all unorganised. There is always some tool missing when they need it just because another one is using it.

I hate it when the main mechanic let an inexperienced guy (new joining) to work on my car.
One guy screwed up tightening the oil filter in my santro and it leakEd a good amount of oil before I noticed.

Got a local mechanic to replace the engine seal. Dont know if there was some damage to the seal or what but it leaked again and I had to give the car to sc. From that point onwards decided for repairs involving anything related to Engine , sc is always the best since they will give warranty for that repair unlike local mechanics.

Ps : my curiosity got 1400rs back to my friend phttp://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/dealership-reviews/24513-skoda-another-scam-mistake.html
But again even my figo's bill was similar. Was charged 100rs extra for engine oil. Filed a complaint and got 50% off on labor for the 3rd service.

I was really happy with quality of skoda service but because these issues of unecessary bill i stated doing servicing at home.

One thing i noticed that when i did service at home i drained all the oil and filled with new oil 4.5 liters. And now after 8000 km and 2 months oil still have that orignal colour and viscosity. But when i did service at skoda oil used to get black just in 1 km after oil change. So i think they never drain full oil. They drain only 3.5 litre and make bill for 5 liters.
Now at home service cost me 6000 rs with using better quality parts than skoda india. At skoda i used to pay minimum 9500 and max 14000.
Now i am perfectly happy customer of skoda with little adjustment.

Sorry for hijacking your thread. But I have a query.

I recently completed a ~1700km road trip in Tamil Nadu; most of it on the highway. We were 5 adults in the car with luggage for the 5 for 5 days. I was mostly cruising at X20kmph. The fuel efficiency that I got was 16km/L. I did the tank full to tank full method to calculate the fuel efficiency. I feel that this number is low. I have seen threads where people have got much better fuel economy. Why am I getting a low fuel economy?

Is it something do with my car?
Is it something to do with my drive?
Or, did I get conned at the fuel pumps (only 3 stops, all on the highway)

What is the odo reading of your car?

At starting my car used to give 17-18 kmpl when fully loaded and 20 kmpl for one person now car is at 1.15 lakh km and 2.5 years

Now milage is considerably increased. Now i get 24-26 for singke person and 21 for fully loaded.

Recently i did 4000 km trip to tamilnadu and kerala with 5 person incar and lot of luggage. Milage was 21 kmpl but 50% time we drove on normal state highway with 2 lane. For highways car gave 22.5 kmpl.

Please tell me some details about your car. What is engine of the car, where you service.

Never expect much milage when you havent done first service. Your car still in the engine breaking period and not running on synthetic oil.

On first service they will fill fully synthetic oil and your car will start giving more milage. For first 3 months and 15000 km my car also used to give same kind of milage but later milage increased. Now i stoped doing service at skoda, so now i use better than skoda which is showing better milage result than oil skoda use.(may be they dont drain full oil as oil is most costlier in service.)

1.5 tdi will defently give 1-2 kmpl less than 1.6 tdi so for this moment milage you are getting is very good. Wait for first service lot thing will change about your car.

Thanks @nspnikhil

I still have 5 months for my first service and I might have some more road trips. So, I wont be worried about fuel economy during this time.
