^^
Safari is not a very practical car it suffers from:
1] poor turning radius,
2] parking issues,
3]electronic glitches,
4] tata after sales,
In comparison Scorpio is very practical, fun to drive and smart vehicle. But ask me or my sister and we will never touch Scorpio, why?because its not a very comfortable car like the Safari.
Man if Safari is your real dream car then why the hell you are even considering scorpio,I suggest you buy Scorpio since there are doubts in your mind,Safari is really for those who want safari and nothing else, who want to "reclaim their lives",not for people who compare it with Scorpio.
I myself have once owned a Safari and what my experiences are:-
1):No SUV has good turning radius.
2):Parking issues:They exist with Scorpio too and if the space is equal then both are equally painful to park.I can park a Safari anywhere where a Scorpio can be parked and that's my experience with both.
3):Electronic glitches:My Safari was perfect when we sold it,no hassles at all.And M&M too doesn't use any high quality electronics,I have seen broken down Scorpios too.
4):Tata A.S.S.:Nearly as good as of M&M,if you have a dealership in your city then no issues.Simply go on and buy it.
Even after all this,Scorpio is a more practical vehicle and the MHawk engine is more responsive too.But still ride of Scorpio is not that good and also handling(maybe because I drive sedans and Innova so I feel it) is not upto the mark.Rest overall MY VOTE GOES FOR SAFARI ANY DAY ANY TIME..
MY +1 FOR SAFARI LX..
NEVER buy a used safari.
See, accept the fact that Safari is not a very reliable vehicle. Moreover, older safaris will give you more issues. Maintainence wont be cheap either. Resale value will be pathetic.
If you want to buy a second hand SUV, buy the Scorpio instead. Else buy a new Safari.
The advantage of buying a second hand safari is that you will get it much cheaper than a similar Scorpio. Infact, that itself explains the car's reliability, else why would resale value be so low?
If you are really keen on a second hand safari, then buy the 2.2 Safari LX or GX. Dont go for the VX, not worth it. Buy a safari with not more than 30000 kms on the odo.
You only have to decide what matters to you -
driving pleasure & reliability - Scorpio mHawk
Ride comfort & space - Safari VTT
Well dear Raj,about Mumbai I don't know but here in Delhi and NCR both Scorpio and Safari enjoys nearly same resale value.
My cousin brother has driven a 2003 Safari(the oldest one)and he has already covered 1.25 lac kms in that car but is still happy and I myself has seen the maintenance the Safari requires.
Its the owners who consider Safari as too much strong and hence they throw more abuses to it,and that's the reason Safari needs more maintenance.Else show me even a single owner who takes even slight care of his Safari and then his car is making him cry.
Still Scorpio is really somewhat more reliable and less prone to breakdowns. Also the overall maintenance of Scorpio is cheaper too.
About the Second hand Safari
+1 to Raj
Rest if you drive most of the time in city, then Scorpio is better also the low speed ride of Scorpio is better than Safari and if highways are what you love then get the cruise machine called Safari its high speed manners are far better than Scorpio.
sandip24 do you have outside pune address ? If yes then you can save about40-50K, and can get Scorpio SLE.
+1
In the above mentioned condition,my vote goes for Scorpio SLE instead of a Safari LX.
In the Scorpio SLE you will get the safety of ABS too
(Correct me if I am wrong)..
