Royal Enfield has finally launched the Classic 650 in India at a starting price of Rs 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the sixth 650cc model from the Chennai-based bike manufacturer after Interceptor, Continental GT, Super Meteor, Shotgun and Bear. The bike made its global debut at EICMA in November 2024 and has been on sale in select international markets since early this year.

Bookings for the Classic 650 in India began around the same time. Enfield is offering the Classic 650 in three variants namely Hotrod, Classic, and Chrome. The latter two are priced at Rs 3.41 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh (both ex-showroom), respectively. The Classic 650 is based on the same platform as the Super Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650, but with a few tweaks.

Visually, the all-new Classic 650 is almost identical to its 350cc namesake. The Classic 650 boasts a round LED headlight with distinctive ‘tiger lights’ or pilot lamps, a streamlined teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a solo seat, with an optional pillion seat available. It is driven by a parallel-twin engine and features twin exhausts, akin to other 650cc models, except for the Bear 650.

In terms of features, the Classic 650 gets a part-digital and part-analogue display along with the Tripper navigation pod and a Type-C charging port. It employs the same main frame, sub-frame, and swingarm as Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650. The 650cc Classic sits on 43mm telescopic front forks and with a wheel travel of 120mm and a twin rear forks with 90mm travel.

The modern classic motorcycle rolls on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. Braking duties are handled by a front 320mm disc brake and a rear 300 mm disc brake, accompanied by standard dual-channel ABS. The seat height is 800mm, the ground clearance is 154 mm, and the fuel tank has a capacity of 14.8 litres.

Powering the Royal Enfield Classic 650 is a familiar 648cc parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine performing duties in the rest of the Royal Enfield 650cc lineup. This motor churns out 46.4 bhp and 52.3 Nm of peak torque while being paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch.
