Guys, i am back. We have been stuck in Jaleswar traffic for the last 2-3 days [;)] Lets move on.

Once we crossed the Jaleswar check post and got into the correct lane, roads were again as good as it can be...As i mentioned earlier, the heavens were clearing up a bit and what a sight... I am a late riser so after many days/weeks/months i do not remember even i was trying to see how it looks like when the rays of sun appears over the horizon and believe me it was a perfect one.. Let the pictures follow:

Once we crossed the loop and into NH 5 meant we were approaching Balasore/Baleshwar..

WoW!!!

I am also interested in such trips!!

But when I present such proposition to my family / friends / colleagues and ask them to accompany me, they give a weird look (I can read their mind - 'Ye Paagal hai kya').[lol]

Waiting for more updates!
Venkatesh saar, My family and friends have already started branding me as a mad insane person [:)] I had 2 young enthusiastic college going guys with me who gave me excellent company and hopefully they will be the only ones who treat me as a sane person and i guess they will give me company in future as well untill and unless they are barred from travelling with me by their family ..Hahahaha[evil]

Once we were in NH 5 we thought of taking our 1st break at Balasore as we did not take a P stop even in between other than the toll breaks. But we continued further as none of the facilities were open for business at that early hour. We crossed Remuna Goloi and Kuruda flyover which indicated end of Balasore.

But while crossing Soro, nature's call was too much to bear and we took the halt at a road side dhaba which was closed. Answered to nature's call and got ourselves relieved [thumbswink].

Couple of videos on the way to Soro follows:

So our first halt was after more than 300 kms and after around 4 hrs 15 mins.
A welcome break for everybody including my Manza.

Some snaps to follow:

It was pretty chilly

You see there is a small diversion. There are not many in this stretch. Roads are in very good condition.

Ha ha ha..... Cooling the Manza, Anish???

Such practises don't help engine to cool down.

Modern diesel engines ,take the help of coolant to cool the engine.

So i hope you follow this practise, after a long , high speed drive, don't turn off the engine abruptly.
Wait for 2 minutes in idling and then turn off the engine.

Advantages: It makes the fluids return to its original position.
AC refrigerant recirculates and returns to its position.

Same with Turbo too.

To prevent turbo damage, you must follow this practise.

@mukesh:

You are correct in saying that it is not required to open the bonnet for cooling the engine. In this case the hood was opened for routine checks after the long non stop drive. Infact i was hearing a cranking noise somewhere beneath the bonnet. So the bonnet was opened for these purposes and not for the engine to be cooled off.. [:D]

We proceeded from Soro at around 7.45 am. Our next stop would be NH5 and NH42 exit. We would be refilling there. It is around 140 kms from here. So we moved on, navigators swapped(i.e now Soham was beside me and Subha took a more relaxed posture [:)])..

Excellent roads, good views all around and nothing much to say from my end and i would let the pictures do the talking..

Subho in a more relaxed posture.. We will have such postures of Soham as well in the future posts.. Hahaha..[sleep]

We reached Choudwar at around 9.50 am. We had covered a total distance of around 438 kms in around 6 and half hours. We are on time so far.

Time was one important thing for us which we could not compromise on. We did not have much time in hand and we had to cover a lot of distance, the first 2 days were very crucial for us and reaching Mumbai was our first milestone. If we get late in reaching Mumbai, the later routes will be delayed or have to be curtailed which i did not want to..

We refueled, took a tea and P break and moved on. Next stop for us should be Sambalpur and we aim to reach there by around 3 and take lunch.

Once we crossed Choudwar, the traffic reduced to a extent till we reached Angul. Choudwar bypass had lot of local traffic.

The NH 42 route earlier was not a route everybody took other than people or trucks travelling from orissa side. But nowadays traffic has increased in this route due to minimal use of sambalpur-kendujhar-jamsola-baharagora-kharagpur route. This route is in horrendous condition and heavily naxal infested. You will not get to know if any roads ever existed in certain stretches in that routes. There has been numerous incidents where trucks had been looted and oil tankers burnt even ambulances attacked. I had an opportunity to go by that route earlier and have a first hand experience and myself would not like to go by that route again.

For that reason, this route is now widely travelled by private cars as well as trucks. So facilities have also cropped up in this route at least till Angul. Earlier hardly you would have found a place to halt, but now you have options. Major car manufacturers have built up their service centers as well and you will get petrol pumps as well.

Below are couple of pictures of TATA and Maruti service centers :

However, we moved on and we enjoyed the drive. It was a 2 laned road but in very good condition. There were speed breakers though before and after small villages, towns and cities. Driving along forests and hills and ran straight till we reached Angul where we were dragging ourselves due to local city traffic. We covered around 100 kms in more than 2 hours.

Lets have the pictures till Angul.

Lets have some videos as well in this stretch..

Enroute Angul 1 - YouTube

Enroute Angul 2 - YouTube

Enroute Angul 3 - YouTube

The sound in the videos seems as if we were travelling in some supersonic jet [evil]

Once we reached Barnapal, the city traffic started to increase and somewhere in Angul bypass, dont know if that was a bypass got stuck. We wasted around half an hour crossing Angul.
