SKODA India leads the VAG group for vision India - products lined up for 2020 and beyond.

Skoda has set itself an ambitious vision of 5% from its current share of less than 1% of the Indian market by 2025.

Will build cars on the localized MQB A0 Platform , thus making it in architecture like the global models and could be exported to designated countries as needed.

We believe that a localized MQB A0 platform as an optimal solution for us to break even our operation within an acceptable time-frame

Here are the products on the anvil:
1. The first models to be built on the Eco platform are due in 2020, with the initial one likely to be a five-seat, mid-size SUV to rival the Creta.

2.The next model is likely to be a mid-size sedan that could replace the VW Vento and Skoda Rapid - VW Virtus?

3. Skoda will finally get into the hatchback segment it had vacated since it discontinued the Fabia in 2013. However, this won’t happen till 2022 by which time VW will finally replace the Polo in India as well, but not before skipping the current generation (in Europe) altogether

The first phase of the product plan, VW and Skoda are expected to get three all-new models each. An SUV, a mid-size sedan and a premium hatchback.

For petrol expect the 1.0L TSI to be the chosen one, the diesel could be the toned down version of VW’s EA288 2.0-litre diesel.

Volkswagen Inaugurates New Dealership In Mumbai

Ready to start fresh in the Indian market with their India Project 2.0, Volkswagen inaugurated a new dealership facility in Mumbai – Volkswagen Mumbai West. The new facility located in Andheri West is a split facility offering Sales, Spares and Service along with a 20-service bays and state-of-the-art paint booth facility at the workshop. Further, it also includes a Das WeltAuto facility that caters to the pre-owned car buyers. With this new dealership, VW’s network now includes 117 showrooms and 115 workshops in 102 cities across India.

Volkswagen Polo, Ameo, Vento special B&W Edition launched

Volkswagen India has launched special edition of Polo, Vento and Ameo, with an aim to boost sales in new financial year. Called Black and White Edition, these come with new decals, badge and interiors.

On the outside, the Black and White Edition Polo, Ameo and Vento get body graphics, roof edge spoiler, glossy rear spoiler, R16 Portago Alloys, black painted roof, black ORVM and Chrome Fender ‘Black & White’ Badge.

On the inside, the only change is ‘Black & White’ Leatherette Seat Cover. Apart from the above mentioned changes, everything else remains same as on offer with existing Vento, Polo and Ameo.

Volkswagen Group To Merge All Passenger Car Entities In India

German auto giant Volkswagen Group has announced that the company intends to merge its three Indian passenger vehicle subsidiaries - Volkswagen India, Volkswagen Group Sales and Skoda Auto India under one umbrella. The merger has been considered and approved by the Boards of the three companies in India and is now subject to the necessary regulatory and statutory approvals, the automaker said in a statement. VW says the restructuring in an important milestone in the Skoda-led 'India 2.0' project. The merger is intended to improve the efficiency of the existing synergies in the company in terms of usage of resources.

I am not sure how they will make the dealerships work. If VAG group is officially merged in India, how would a Skoda salesman pitch a Superb against a Passat ? Why maintain distinct showrooms? They could just create a multi-sub brand experience within the same dealership.

German auto major Volkswagen announced the expansion of its corporate business centre (CBC) programme in India with the addition of 10 more such outlets across its sales network over the next three months. Volkswagen Expands Network With First City & Pop-up Stores In India

German auto giant has inaugurated its first city and pop-up stores in India, in a bid to expand its presence and touchpoints in the country. The manufacturer opened its first City store at Richmond Road in Bengaluru, while the Pop-up store opened in Tumkur. The automaker says that the initiative aims to prepare the brand to be 'fit for the future', while being innovative. Volkswagen plans to introduce 30 new pop-up and city stores across the country over the next one year.

Volkswagen Polo, Vento & Ameo Cup Editions Launched

The 2019 ICC World Cup is here and to celebrate the global sporting event, Volkswagen India has introduced the 'Cup Edition' on its Polo, Vento and Ameo models. The new Cup Edition versions will be launched soon and bring new cosmetic styling and additional equipment over the standard models. With the new special editions, the automaker has also begun its #GermanyCheersForIndia marketing campaign in the country. Volkswagen has not announced the prices yet on the special edition models. However, expect the same to be priced at a marginal premium over the standard versions.

Volkswagen India Considering New-Gen Polo Based On MQB A0 IN Platform

The 6th generation of the Volkswagen Polo made its debut in 2017 and back then we told you that the car will not make its way to India. However, Volkswagen India has confirmed that it is considering the new gen Polo for India albeit with a few changes. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen India, spoke to carandbike on the sidelines of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Polo and said, "It's(Polo) a wonderful product and is based on the MQB platform which you know we are going to launch the MQB A0 IN platform in India pretty soon. The Polo is a car for India and it's bound to be a car for India."

Volkswagen India Announces Assistance Program For Door-To-Door Service

Volkswagen India has announced the launch of its door-to-door service experience, 'Volkswagen Assistance'. This program will see the company offer doorstep services that will include small on-site repairs, breakdown assistance and service jobs.

Volkswagen has introduced a fleet of service vehicles, which are equipped to offer immediate services to customers. The assistance vehicle will provide services to customers within a 25 km catchment area of select Volkswagen service centres across India.
