Renault has announced a production milestone of 10,00,000 vehicles in India. Renault's state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Chennai has played a pivotal role in this remarkable accomplishment.

This facility has a production capacity of 4,80,000 units per annum. Renault has also committed major investment of ₹5,300 crore to support development of six products under the alliance.

Renault India has inaugurated a new dealership in Punjab located near Amritsar Gate GT Road. The showroom and workshop area is spread across 2,800 sq.ft and 10,000 sq.ft respectively.

The company also has presence in Jalandhar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur and Pathankot. Currently, Renault India has over 450 sales and 500 service touchpoints, including 230 Workshop on Wheels.

Renault to boost India portfolio with all new platform

At the presentation of its ‘New International Gameplan 2027’ in Brazil, Renault announced two platforms that it says will form the basis of its new plan for regions outside Europe. Speaking at the event, Fabrice Cambolive, global CEO of Renault said that the platforms will underpin eight new models. All these models will be produced and launched outside Europe, with the last one scheduled to arrive no later than 2027.

Fully Flexible Platform
Curiously, Renault refrained from labelling the platform headed to India, with Renault brand product performance VP, Bruno Vanel, only describing it as “a fully new Renault group modular platform that will be used in four hubs beyond Europe.” The first market would be Latin America, followed by Turkey, Morocco and India.

Speaking about this platform, Vanel said, “It is scalable and flexible and capable of accommodating vehicles with a length between 4-5 metres, with four possible wheelbases from 2.6-3 metres. The platform is also capable of accepting a wide range of powertrains, including ICE (gasoline and diesel), flex-fuel, LPG, 48V hybrid and full-hybrid too. It would also offer two- and four-wheel-drive capability.”

CMA platform
The second platform is the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, which will be localised in South Korea in partnership with Geely and will be used to develop D- and E-segment vehicles. Renault also used the event to showcase two vehicles based on the new flexible platform; the Niagara Concept pickup and the Kardian SUV.

Niagara Concept Pickup
The Niagara concept pickup is scheduled to go into production ‘no later than 2027’. It is 4.9 metres in length, powered by a new E-tech hybrid 4X4 powertrain, comprising of a 48V mild-hybrid engine that powers the front axle, with an extra electric motor on the rear axle.

Renault Kardian SUV
The Renault Kardian SUV is the first of the eight new models announced and will debut a new 3-cylinder, 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection motor that’s derived from the brand’s larger 1.3 litre unit.

New International Gameplan 2027’
Renault’s new international gameplan will see the French carmaker invest 3 billion Euros in the next four to five years. This is a part of what the brand is calling its ‘Renaulution’, where it aims to double its net revenue per unit sold outside Europe in 2027, when compared with 2019. It also says that one out of every three Renault cars sold outside Europe will either be hybrid or electric. Renault is currently present in 80 countries with 40 percent of its sales coming from outside of Europe.

In the wake of the devastating cyclone Michaung, Renault India has collaboratively joined hands with other OEMs to extend comprehensive support to its customers in the affected regions in Tamil Nadu.
  • Renault is offering free-of-cost roadside assistance to help customers transport their vehicles to the nearest dealerships.
  • The company has also pledged to reimburse the towing costs incurred by customers who independently arranged for their vehicle transportation.
  • To prioritise the recovery of flood-affected vehicles throughout Tamil Nadu, Renault has deployed an additional fleet of 15 towing trucks.
  • Recognising the urgency of the situation, the 24x7 helpline team at Renault has been reinforced with extra resources to handle the surge in request calls.
  • Several other measures have also been taken including extended working hours of Renault authorised workshops for faster deliveries and arrangements for parts inventory to expedite repairs.

Renault has announced its plans to launch five products in the next three years, under the Renaulution India 2024 initiative.
  • The five product launches include entirely new models and the next generation of Kiger and Triber.
  • This is in addition to the €3 billion investment announced for the four key international hubs outside Europe, which includes India.
  • In sync with the Renault group global direction, the new brand identity will be adopted within the network in 2024 and the adoption can be seen across all products starting 2025.

Renault India has become the first car manufacturer to take its entire product lineup to Umling La Top, the highest motorable road in world.
  • The much-anticipated experiential drive across the breathtaking landscapes of Leh, Ladakh, was flagged off on 29th August 2024.
  • The drive, spanning over 1,000 kilometres across the challenging terrains of the Ladakh region was covered by the Renault Kiger, Kwid, and Triber.
  • Commencing from the city of Leh, the drive navigated through iconic destinations such as Chang La pass, Pangong Tso, Hanle, and finally, Umling La pass.
  • Participants were treated to breathtaking views of the region’s natural beauty. The journey also included a stop at Hanle, offering a rare opportunity to engage in stargazing in one of the clearest skies on Earth.
