Not clear any TAIger has booked AWD Duster. When I checked with dealer at the time of purchase in May14 about 4X4, he said that there is no news about that and may launch only in 2015.

If it was available that time, would have gone for AWD. As pointed out by someone, as far as the vehicle meets one needs there ends the story.

Hi All,
So iam writing this post after having two rounds of detailed on road test drives of AWD model of duster. The following are my observations:

1.) 1st and 2nd gear ratios are short and very much useful in B2B traffic, as you can start from 2nd gear without clutch slippage. 1st gear can be used only uphill from standing position if you want to. Otherwise 2nd gear start is just fine on a level surface.
2.) Extreme drivability, one can drive the vehicle in 2nd gear all day long in B2B traffic or in 3rd gear to cross a speed breaker.
3.) Fuel Efficiency: With heavy to moderate traffic in city it was around 13-14 with AC on and 17-18 in normal traffic conditions in Delhi with AC on. The best part is highway fuel efficiency which was around 24-25 KMPL at a speed of around 80-85 on Gurgaon Expressway with 2 adults and AC on.
4.) Ride Quality: Exceptional, no other word. period.
5.) Handling: Exceptional, its just like a sedan.
6.) View from driver seat: Very good and one can see at a distance.
7.) Gizmos: Very few like SAT NAV in top model. cruise control, new improved MID, etc.
8.) 4X4: Its a good system, as i have used a similar one in my previous vehicle ARIA, you will not feel that the system is working but it is and you realize these when you are in loose sand or mud or black ice or sleet or in rain etc. I did check on the 4X4 lock option while rversing the vehicle on a higher footpath. In 2wd mode it was a difficult task and with 4x4 lock it happened without giving the accelerator.
9.) Overall Feel of Interior: Its better than 4x2 but way down from Ecosport level. Dash plastic is a bit soft feel to touch but not exactly a soft plastic. Horn is better, seat fabric is very good and looks elegant.
10.) Ergonomics: People bash a lot to Renault as they have put the ORVM adjuster below the hand brake but in fact its a decent location, once you get used to it, its very easy to use. Audio controls and phone controls on stalk is also very safe feature and much easier to use than people would have thought of it.

Note: Now with the new price reduction of around Rs.60000/- on 4x4 base model (Now Rs 11.29L) and Rs 50000/- discount on top model the deal has become a bit more sweet.
Now Base model 4x4 OTR cost in Gurgaon is Rs 12.60L and in Delhi it is around 13.10L. (Lack of passenger side airbag is the only detter factor)
Top Model 4xr4 OTR cost in Gurgaon is Rs. Rs 13.9L and in Delhi it is around 14.5L. (Still price is on higher side, it should be around 13.5L in Gurgaon). May be in December the more discounts will be given by dealer to offload the stock.

See if you go and put money on table they might reduce it a bit more.

Lets see whether i'll get 4x4 duster or W6 XUV 500????

So I did a test drive of the Duster AWD yesterday along with my wife who was to judge the comfort from the rear seat.
The SA encouraged me to go into an essentially "no-road" construction site on the outskirts of Wagholi, Pune, and there was nothing but dumper trucks , and the dirt road was full of mammoth craters, the kind I'd be scared to take my Linea on (inspite of the engine guard). And boy, the Duster AWD simply shone thru. My wife, who didnt think much of the car earlier nor the showroom (somewhat run-of-the-mill look), was mighty pleased with the back seat comfort during our moon-walk.
And I also noticed that the engine was extremely smooth, hardly any NVH inside even at 80 kph. This was a 7000km run Duster, so not exactly factory fresh. The only slight downside was that I heard the odd tiny creaks from the driver seat and the dashboard/window interface. Otherwise it was a terrific experience. The boot space is also somewhat of a bother. If one has to upgrade from a sedan, the 410 litre boot space may look a tad underwhelming. The only thing is that there is some flexiblity with respect to the parcel tray.

Good Evening Taigers,

Good news for duster buyers and bad news for recent owners who have purchased in last 2 months,
unofficially prices have come down a lot, apart from 90K discount on all 110PS models there is additional discount of around 30 to 50k depends on variant and colour.
like in delhi 110ps rxl after discount is around 11.66L (90K) but after more discounts it comes at around 11.25L.
Adventure edition is around 12.8L (after price corrections) now one can own it in around 12.4L.
110ps RXZ top model is around 12.8L (90K off) but can be bouight in 12.4L.
4x4 RXZ is around 14.6L OTR delhi (50k) but can be bought in 14.2L after dealer discount
So it depends how much you can bargain with them at present scenario.
