Actually, Evoque is certainly smaller if compared with its own siblings, but I love the muscular stance and aggressive design this car has been complimented with. Frankly speaking, it looks better than the puny X1 which does not deserves to be called as an SUV. And yes, the rear screen is almost non-existent but that does not matter much as any SUV driver will need a set of sensors or camera anyway.

Is it true that Evoque has got more than 12000 orders in Britan, and its sold out for a year, if this is the scenario then how Range Rover have launched it in India ? Won't the Indian customers would feel cheated if the waiting peroid is more than 6 months of booking a healthy amount.

Now BBC UK TopGear Magazine has give the Evoque the 2011 Car of the year (COTY) award

“There have been many great cars launched over the last 12 months. But these are just one-trick ponies. The Evoque is more than that. It’s a pony that is also a racehorse, a shire horse, a dray horse, a show jumper and an easy rosette-winner in the dressage competition. It’s brilliant. And it’s the Top Gear Car of the Year,” Jeremy Clarkson

Range Rover Evoque R to Get Jaguar Supercharged V6

Rumours about Land Rover giving the world a more powerful version of the Evoque are nothing new, with the company itself previously hinting that this would happen and now we are getting one step closer to receiving a hot Evoque, as a new piece of info has surfaced.

According to Autoblog.nl, the vehicle, which should use the Evoque R designation, will be powered by Jaguar’s new supercharged 3.0-liter V6, the engine that will be used by the fresh F-Type.

On the Jag, it will be offered with two power levels and the Evoque is expected to get the entry-level one, which means that it should offer the driver 340 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) to play with. This would allow the vehicle to deal with the 0 to 62 mph sprint in around 6 seconds and offer a top speed of over 230 km/h (143 mph).

Employees at Jaguar Land Rover Halewood plant have began 24-hour production for the first time in the plant’s 50-year history.

The increasing global demand for the auto maker’s Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque, made the company to put its 4,500 employees work around the clock for the first time in the factory’s history. Over the past month JLR has hired extra 1,000 workers and on Monday, August 13th, at 9:30 in the evening the first overnight shift began.

“The factory has just reopened after a break and there is now a great buzz around the place,” said Des Thurlby, HR director at JLR.
He also said that the company decided to make the Friday night shift shorter and end at 12:30 a.m., not to disrupt workers’ weekends too much. Over the last three years JLR has tripled its workforce and when the company announced the 1,000 vacancies, more than 30,000 people applied for the jobs.

“The production positions are now filled but we are still looking for a few production supervisors and skilled tradespeople and people can go on the company’s website to apply,” Mr Thurlby said. “We will be working around the clock here for the foreseeable future because we have a very strong order book for both models.”
