Changed park light bulb. No LED this time. Nowadays LEDs are not lasting long and changing in Duke is a mess. Phillips Blue Vision. Had in my parts bin from someone whom installed LED.

The whole thing is water tight. Even a rubber lining is there.

It's whiter than in this pic, cam color mismatch. It's pure 4200k.

Most of the LEDs available in accessory shops konks off quickly. Older ones lasted more. Phillips also makes automotive LEDs but they cost a lot and the price to purpose is not justified. This one should cost around 115 a pair. I had them with me. 5W I think.

Chain slack adjustment and lubing

DIY chain adjustment and lubing

Park in level. Better with paddock stand.

2015-05-02 09-44-50.jpg

Clean the chain. I sprayed diesel and high pressure water to clean off the muck. Dry it.

2015-05-02 09-45-03.jpg

Loosen the axle bolt. Size 22 mm.

2015-05-02 09-49-37.jpg

Slack is 5-7 cm. Rotate the wheel and find where the chain is most tight, adjust slack with respect to that point.

2015-05-02 09-49-54.jpg

Loose chain.

2015-05-02 09-50-13.jpg

The chain tension adjuster.

2015-05-02 09-50-46.jpg

Loosen the lock nut first. This nut locks down the adjuster in position. Use a 14-mm open-end spanner.

2015-05-02 09-50-55.jpg

Adjust chain. 10-mm open-end spanner. Tightening the bolt tightens the chain and vice versa.

2015-05-02 09-52-33.jpg

Adjust equally on both sides. Look for the markers.

Correct slack.

2015-05-02 09-54-25.jpg

Tighten the lock nut.

2015-05-02 09-55-01.jpg

Make sure to hold the adjustment bolt firmly while tightening the locking nut, else adjustment might change.

2015-05-02 09-55-42.jpg

Tighten the axle. Done with adjustment.

Chain lube, KTM recommends SAE90 gear oil or chain spray. For cleaner rims and highway runs, use chain spray. For cost effectiveness and city use, use gear oil, but orange rims will become black.

Motul comes with 2 nozzles. Use the nozzle and long tube.

2015-05-02 10-09-02.jpg

Start the bike and keep running in 1st or 2nd. Spray lube on all 4 sides of chain.
Be extra cautious to keep hands away from sprocket. It can be fatal if caught between the sprocket. It's recommended to manually rotate and spray, but ease of job and effective spraying, it's better to spray with it running.

2015-05-02 10-10-26.jpg

Done. Keep the chain wet. Lube at 500 km intervals. More frequently in rain/dusty condition.

Third Service

Did the Third Free Service at Deedi Probiking Service

Everytime I give without any appointment, this time they asked whether I took appointment or not and an appointment is needed or the bike will be delayed. Went there on Saturday and they said, they can deliver only on Monday. But fortunately, they delivered on the same day. Work was good also.

Motul 7100 10W50 (1.5 L) 1,061.14
Oil Filter 64.63
Filter Element 247.16
Spark Plug (Bosch M12) 170.74
Chain Lube 100.00+tax
Consumables 92.00+tax

Total Bill 1986

This consumable scam is happening now at every service center now.

Motul now sells 7100 10W50 in KTM special 1.5 Litre can. Did not see the bottle, the service guy said so and the bill was not 1 liter price x 1.5 litre this time.
