Take a breathe. Thats my own car. My very own Optra Magnum. I must have driven atleast 2 Lakhs Kms but was never involved in any accident (Touchwood). And this my first yet most funny and stupid accident. We stopped the car on a slope for nature's call. I engaged in 1st gear and parked without parking brake. While we were getting our job done, I observed that car is goin. I don't know how it slipped into neutral. I ran behind it but before I could catch it, car steered towards left and the result you can see.
It was good luck that car didn't steered towards right. And best part is, there is not even a single scratch or dent on the car. Had to call Towing van to pull out car though.
Oh sad!! But the good part is your ride was not damaged!! But do service your car , some internal damage may have taken place!!
BTW i read somewhere that the car has to be parked in 2nd gear only and not in first gear , am not sure where i read it!! In first gear the car has the tendency to get back to neutral as in your case ( even i don understand how this happens).

Here is the part of my friends innova , which i used to drive , rear kissed a school bus by the idiotic driver a couple of month back
Sweet memories of cruising at 150kmph+ still lies fresh in my mind.
it is a v series one.
the quote of repair is 6L and insurance will pay only 3L not more than that.
Still in the same state , at the toyota garage.
Best part is , no one was injured . Only 2 of them were travelling . Air bags saved 2 life.

Thats sad to hear Ilango!! A nice car ruined by some poor driving!! At what speed did the driver crash into the bus?? Good to see that the Innova is sturdy and nobody got injured!! Poor school kids hope that nobody got injured in bus also!!
Minor injury to some students . Think 3 students got injured. Very minor one.
Seeing the damage , i think he crashed at 120+.
I don't know the insurance company name , it has a tie up with Toyota.

At just 3 years old, I guess the car is applicable for depreciation for metal parts will be 20%, Rubber and fibre parts at 50% and 0% depreciation on Windshield. With this, I think your friend should get claim of atleast 4.5 Lakhs if not more. Morever, the car is applicable to be qualified as "Total Loss" if loss is more than 60%.
A fearful accident occured just few moments back in Kolkata
Guys just now I checked Star Bangla(A bengali news channel of star),an indica occupied by 5 occupants including the driver met with an accident head-on with a loaded truck on Red road in Kolkata.The indica was about to take an U-turn, but didnt noticed the truck and hit it head-on at high speed around an island.The indica's nose knocked below the truck and got totally damaged and jammed there,the front seaters(2) died on the spot and another rear occupant died afterwards, 2 other rear seaters were sent to hospital, the driver and cleaner of the truck ran away.What a tragic incident!!
