Re: OMG! 3rd RX at Home - 1998 Yamaha RX135 4S (Restoration Started)

Cafe racer idea is dropped out. This bike is going to be 100% stock.[/QUOTE]
And finally the mad monkey had returned to original state after plenty of mutations just to resemble its own species.[clap] Hats off for your decision.
I welcome you for your first step to be a collector. Only collectors are maintaining original specs nowadays. I wish a member in our site to become a collector in future.
Collector's items for Yamaha:
Rx 100 Japan - 11 bhp, then indian model with the same decal
Rx 100 India * 3 decal types, so total 5 * RX 100
And one more RX100 with Escorts monogram on tank instead of Yamaha
Rx 125 with Escorts Badge (very few were sold) - 15 bhp
RXG - 12 bhp
RX135 4 speed - 12 bhp
RXZ 4 speed - 12 bhp
RX135 4 speed big cat con - 12 bhp
RX135 5 speed big cat con - 14 bhp
RX135 4 speed version 2 small catcon and round speedometer - 12 bhp
RX135 5 speed small cat con
I still don't know what is RX tiger
Critics welcome as I don't know much about yamaha and might have forgotten a few models.
But If I need to collect TVS-Suzuki 2 strokes, I must collect more than 20 bikes ranging from 7.48 bhp to 16 bhp. I'm trying; I'll get ready a huge blog (atleast) which contains the restoration guide for all those bikes with clear distinction between each and every model.
Sorry for wasting your time and space with this irrelevant post, but this may be someday useful for someone.
See the attached for different kinds of RX 100 decals, and also tell me whether the last badge RX came with 135 decals or it is just a modification, I'm mentioning the red one in HQ.

I hope that's not OE spec. That should be a re-badged RX135 shield.

- Performance : I couldn't comment right now as it is under run-in period. Initial & in-gear acceleration is decent (yet to check the full potential)
- Satisfactory level : Overall very much satisfied
- Cost break-up : Let me summarize and update in a week or two

Quick update:
Bike sold!!! [surprise]

After a lengthy Heart vs Mind debate passed her to another hand, a family friend.

Planned for 5 speed conversion and landed up with 5s sticker theme. Got a used GB and not satisfied with the condition and sold it immediately (after losing few bucks)
Lesson learned: Avoid online shopping (especially for used goods) going by the snaps and verbal promises.

Decided against 5s conversion and ended up having 2 bikes with similar (same) spec and age, only difference being this bike is completely stock and the other is mechanically stock (and better than this bike) with contrast painting. Emotionally more attached with that bike for various reasons and decided to sell this bike with only 1 condition, buyer should be from known circle or an enthusiast who could maintain her with passion. A month back one of our family friend said he is looking to buy an RX and wanted me to get him a good one. Called him and the deal was freezed in no time.

5s bug didn't end. Started looking for stock 5s RX and a couple of days back came across a 2000 model RX135 5S in Olx and Facebook. Some Whatsapp chats, few phone calls and last night inspected the bike, fully satisfied, paid token advance, fixed delivery time, and this (early) morning paid the balance and got her home. Yes, 00 RX135 5s replaced this 98 RX135 4s [:D]

More details and snaps to follow in a new thread, shortly.

Hello Mr. Boss,
I am in the process of restoration of my RX135, 4speed, 2004 Model. Need few suggestions / advice in this regards. I am trying to maintain it as stock as possible if not for few minor modifications like the Handle Bar, Throttle, Headlight and Battery. I am finding it really difficult to source genuine parts. It will be great if you can share contact details.

Thank You...

Good Day....
Regards,
Achu Menon
