Ola has launched its Gen 3 scooters and this time around there are four models - S1 X, S1 X+, S1 Pro and the new flagship S1 Pro+. Prices start at Rs 79,999 and go up to Rs 1.170 lakh for the new Ola Gen 3 models. The S1 Air has been discontinued and the Gen 2 models of the S1 X and S1 Pro will continue to be on sale alongside the Gen 3 scooters, at reduced prices.

Changes on the Ola Gen 3 platform
Before we delve into the details of each product, let's first recap the main changes that Ola has made with its new Gen 3 platform. The company has now moved all scooters over to a mid-drive motor, replacing the hub-mounted unit on the previous ones. Ola has also debuted its own version of Brake-by-Wire, which monitors pressure at the lever and also the urgency with which it is applied and incorporated it into its ABS technology.

Ola’s new operating software, MoveOS 5, will be coming to its scooters by mid-Feb, likely coinciding with the deliveries of its Gen 3 models. Some noteworthy features of MoveOS 5 include a DIY design layout mode (where the user can customise their screen as they please), Smart Park (which gives you both forward and rear park assist), lock the scooter through personal devices like a smartwatch or smartphone phone, alerting you emergency contact in the case of a mishap and a location of all the chargers on your on map for road trips.

Ola S1 X Gen 3 details
The S1 X is the most affordable Ola model and just like before it is available in 3 battery variants - 2kWh (Rs 79,999), 3kWh (Rs 89,999) and 4kWh (Rs 99,999). The Gen 3 S1 X gets rid of the hub-mounted motor and switches to a mid-drive motor just like the S1 Pro. And unlike the Gen 2 model, which used drum brakes at both ends, the Gen 3 scooter uses a disc brake at the front.

Ola has also released the specifications of the top S1 X 4kWh battery variant, which has a staggering 242km IDC range, a 7kW motor and a 123kph top speed (claimed numbers). This means that the Gen 2 S1 Pro is slower than and has less range than the Gen 3 Ola S1 X 4kWh. Ola also claims that the S1 X can manage the 0-40kph sprint in just 3 seconds.

Ola S1 X+ Gen 3 details
Above the base S1 X is the S1 X+, priced at Rs 1.08 lakh. The S1 X+ betters the S1 X in every aspect and has a 125kph top speed and a quicker time of 2.7s in the 0-40kph sprint thanks to a more powerful 11kW motor. The S1 X+ also comes with single-channel ABS, thanks to Ola’s new brake-by-wire technology, which will be available with the latest MoveOS 5 software.

The S1 X+ is available in a single 4kWh variant with a claimed 242km IDC range. Both the S1 X and S1 X+ are available with a physical key and a 4.3-inch segmented colour LCD display. Five colours are on offer on both the S1 X models - blue, red, black, grey and white.

Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 details
With the move to the Gen 3 platform, the S1 Pro is no longer Ola’s flagship, which is reserved for the new S1 Pro+. The S1 Pro is available in two battery variants - 3kWh (Rs 1.15 lakh) and 4kWh (Rs 1.35 lakh). Just like the Gen 2 S1 Pro, it has an 11kW motor but has a slightly higher 125kph top speed and can manage the 0-40kph sprint in 2.7s. The 4kWh S1 Pro has the same 242km claimed IDC range as the S1 X models.

Where the S1 Pro differs from the S1 X models is that it employs a touchscreen TFT display, no unpainted black plastic panels and has body-coloured mirrors.

Ola S1 Pro+ Gen 3 details
Coming to the top S1 Pro+ which is available in two battery variants - 4kWh (Rs 1.55 lakh) and 5.3kWh (Rs 1.70 lakh). The latter uses Ola’s own 4680 cell, which is why the company has been able to offer a battery of this capacity. And Ola claims a massive 320km claimed IDC range for this top 5.3kWh variant.

The S1 Pro+ is the most powerful Indian electric scooter with a 13kW motor and a claimed 141kph top speed. It is also the first Indian electric scooter to come with dual-channel ABS. 0-40kph takes just 2.1s and the S1 Pro+ is the only model to get rim decals as well as an aluminium pillion grab rail.

One must note that these prices are introductory and are valid only for the next seven days. Bookings for the Gen 3 Ola models are already open and the company claims deliveries will begin in mid-February.

Alongside the Gen 3 scooter models, Ola will also be selling its Gen 2 products. The models that will continue to be on sale are all the variants of the S1 X - 2kWh (Rs 69,999), 3kWh (Rs 79,999) and, 4kWh (Rs 89,999) - and the S1 Pro (Rs 1.15 lakh). Ola claims it currently has 4,000 operational stores and service centres across India, which is a staggering increase over the 800 it had in November 2024. Ola has also teased that it will share some news regarding its electric bikes next week on February 5.
