Very Comprehensive review, 350Z. It was a pleasure having your company during the drive.

Nice review 350Z.

Was there a XE variant available during the drive? Curious to know if it had HU and the Steering wheel on XE variant (No HU --> No steering mounted controls, so how should it look?)

Nice review Vibhor as usual. Were was the media drive held???
Calling the Andaman & Nicobar Islands simply untapped and fascinating will be quite an understatement. I admit; it was the first time when I was as much excited about the location of a media drive

Very nice and detail Overview.. [:)].

The only one thing I don't like in this car is the small tyres. It must have tyre size around 205/60 R16 will make car look more proportionate and add more safety.

Re: Nissan Sunny 2014: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Fantastic review. One of the best in recent times. Thorough coverage and unbiased review. Five stars.
One question on CVT - How it will behave with 5 occupants on ghat road? Will it struggle initially and pickup or will it not even move? How does this(CVT) transmission compare to 4-speed i10 automatic transmission?
On pricing side - Since they are cutting several features compared to current model, will it be priced close to 8L ex-show room? (current version is 8.6 laks ex-show room). Any hints on pricing? There are rumors that it might be price lower to take on competition in the segment.
Mileage - Are we sure it is 21KMPL ARAI certified mileage for CVT? Every other review is mentioning current 17.97 as ARAI certified mileage.

Excellent review buddy.

Sunny is sold as Nissan Versa here in US. On the outside, the US version is pretty much similar to the Indian model, however the interiors in the Indian version look far more upmarket than one available here.
When is the Scala getting the facelift. Somehow I prefer Scala over Sunny when it comes to styling and I would love to see what the fresh tweaks the renault sedan is going to get!

Base variants are normally not available on media drives. This event was a no exception.

I tested it with total three occupants in the car with AC switched on while driving at the hills. Keep it in L mode and Petrol CVT nicely picks up.

However, on a very steep incline it somehow managed to climb up but lack of enough torque was clearly evident. That's where Diesel was such a breeze.

On pricing side - Since they are cutting several features compared to current model, will it be priced close to 8L ex-show room? (current version is 8.6 laks ex-show room). Any hints on pricing?
I too expect it to be marginally more competitive than now. It better be.

Mileage - Are we sure it is 21KMPL ARAI certified mileage for CVT? Every other review is mentioning current 17.97 as ARAI certified mileage.
I'll cross check.

I used to like Scala’s front looks but now it’s Sunny for me. Though Scala’s redesigned taillamps still appeal more.

I do not know about new model but older model XE I have seen had blank in place of of HU. But standard 2 DIN touch screen HU nicely fits in there.

Nissan Sunny facelift launched at Rs 6.99 lakh

The facelifted Nissan Sunny has been launched at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol variant and Rs 7.99 lakh for the diesel version. The top of the line XV D diesel version is priced at Rs 9.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). There are two optional paid premium packs to choose from too - Premium leather or premium safety on the top XV D variant.

On the nose, the facelift includes new Teana-inspired headlights that go deeper into the bumper and more prominent Nissan grille. The chin of the car has been tidied up as well, with chrome accents around the fog lamps. The rear of the car has been updated and includes a black ‘splitter’ that helps break the visual bulk of that large 490-litre boot. The Sunny facelift gets new tail-lights and alloys as well.

Variants

There are even more changes on the inside. Most importantly, the multiple shades of grey interior have been replaced by a look that comes across as a lot more upmarket. There’s a new leather-wrapped steering, chrome-lined dials, piano black centre console and silver accents lift the ambience if the cabin considerably. The higher XV premium 1 and premium 2 trims get leather seats and leather-covered gear knobs, and a new two-DIN audio system also provides Bluetooth and a display screen for the reversing camera. Also really nice are the steering-mounted audio controls that are finished in chrome and further enhance the premium feel of the cabin.

Engine

Mechanically, the Sunny remains unchanged and the 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 98bhp and can be bought with a CVT automatic too. The 1.5-litre diesel engine makes 84 bhp but there’s no option of an automatic with the diesel motor.

Prices are as follows:

Variant Price ex showroom, Delhi Price: ex-showroom, Mumbai
XL P Rs 6.99 lakh Rs 7.29 lakh
XL P Rs 7.61 lakh Rs 7.94 lakh
XL CVT P Rs 8.91 lakh Rs 9.29 lakh
XE D Rs 7.99 lakh Rs 8.33 lakh
XL D Rs 8.60 lakh Rs 8.96 lakh
XV D Rs 9.33 lakh Rs 9.72 lakh
XV D Premium (leather) Rs 9.80 lakh Rs 10.22 lakh
XV D Premium (safety) Rs 9.60 lakh Rs 10.02 lakh

Crazy pricing at least for CVT. Skimmed down the features (from pre-facelift) and increase the price. No idea what Nissan is thinking. I am sure they will not be able to sell any CVT.

Re: Nissan Sunny 2014: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

hi 350Z,it is a nice review about the facelifted sunny.
hello guys, i am planning to buy the facelifted sunny soon.Test driven the new sunny xv(Nightshade color looks purple under sun and black at shade) as well as new honda city(white color).
i felt sunny is far superior over honda city in NVH level.
Panic braking response of Sunny is far behind honda.Sunny needs much improvement in this.
Sitting comfort sunny still has less under thy support than the new honda city.
Leg room of the new honda city and sunny feels same. (Honda trying to steal sunny's strength[;)]).
honda is much stiffer than sunny in ride quality.
I think the rest of the things is not useful as they are in different segments.
From them i felt sunny is more value for money in terms of features and ride quality.Sunny now looks like a handsome executive car.I am planning for XV premium Leather pack and color might be either pearl white or night shade.

One of my turn off is the JK tyres coming with the new sunny.Even in the top XV model. So thinking of buying Michelin xm2 185/65/R15 or 195/60/R15.I asked the price at Travancore Wheel Club,Trivandrum(Michelin Dealer)
185/65 -Rs.5600
195/60-Rs.5900
For JKs they told they can give atmost Rs.2500.
When i went for a bargain they told except JKs they can give any other tyres 500 less than its MRP as JK doesnt move out of the shelf easily.
I dont have a good idea the price of xm2.I need to know about it in advance as i am driving from the showroom straight to the shop to change the tyres.Your suggestions will be very much helpful to me.
