The only bad thing about painting the rims after mounting is that, when the wheels are painted it adds weight to the wheels.

So you should have painted them prior to mounting so that the wheels could be balanced properly.
Most alignment and balancing places will give you a 10k kms or 1 month warranty on their alignment and balancing
Jackie thanks for the information, the guy who did the balancing, didnt quote any such warranty so i may have to pay for it i think.. though i cant feel any imbalance as such while driving.
another good thing about gettin the rims painted before mounting, is that i could have got the inner parts painted as well, the paint coat would prevent rusting in the future.

Hi demonic, car looks good,IMO silver colored rims would look better.
+1.
BTW how many kms have you driven it (total kms on the odo).
Varun thanks for your feedback. Actually the rims have always been silver, i wanted a change so went in for black. Now planning to get silver wheel caps for the contrasting look.
the odo has crossed 100000 and was reset to 00000, currently its showing 32380,,,, so not all that much.. but its been a pal [cheers]

@demonic:It is an understood thing about the warranty. All of the alignment and balancing places give you this warranty.
This is because once the new tires are used for a bit, they tend to flex a bit so a bit of tuning is needed.

You will never know till you ask.So ask and see.

guys iv seemed to have landed abit of an issue with my tyres.
on saturday i filled air at around 11pm on my way back home, on sunday evening i go to see my front tyre is flat. today evening i took the tyre to the puncture guy but surprisingly there was no puncture to be found. so now tyre guy had no clue as to how the air escaped, his best bet was that the valve may be spoilt, but since its new set of rims i doubt it..
So iv inflated the tyre and strapped it back on to the car, will leave it standing for a day to see if it deflates again..
Guys any suggestions, what could have happened.. do you suspect a defect with the new tyres. (goodyear, tubeless, 155/70)

It could be a defect with the valve or a hairline puncture in the tire.

It is best to bring this to the notice of the dealer they were purchased from.

If it is infact just the valve he needs to replace it for you without any cost since they are just a few days old(I hope).

When they have balanced your rims/tires, the weights which they put might cause a gap between the rim and the tire check that too.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,
According to me silver colour looks good and always better than black colour rims. You should have painted before fixing the Tyre. White also looks good for white maruti. And I think a coat of paint won't change the tyre balance.

Guys. as per my last update i inflated the tyre and fixed it back on right.. since then iv let it idle around for a couple of days and after that drove it for 2 days as well, however not an ounce of air has escaped the tyre :-)

so im suspecting probably the valve was loose or somthing because of which the air escaped. till now all is fine. it seems there was nothing wrong with the tyre, lets hope it stays that way.

will update if anything comes up and thaks for the suggestions.

Hi demonic, Welcome to TAI.
If you like wheel covers then you can install those silver wheel covers & paint their lips black. This will make the spoke design look like alloys in motion, will even better when parked. Has the handling improved considerably after the tyre upgrade? Car is really looking good, how much did your car painting cost you?

ss80. thanks for your opinion, will be looking to get wheel covers soon.

to be honest after upsizing, initially i felt the steering to be slightly heavier in manouvering, but actually the broad tyres added more stability and was just slightly different in its feel.. so yes the car definately handles better, better grip, great at negotiating even sharp turns at high speeds.

Any ideas on adding power steering and disc brakes to an 800 ss80 ? Im looking to get one but add some more safety features to it. I see one available in immaculate condition, but need to feel a little safer about driving it on a highway. I like the idea of radials adding to stability and grip.
