Where to get the direct power for this connection, any specific amp current it required. I don't understand if 12v power is needed to feed through this why the mechanic from where I installed this antenna not connected any one just SMA /coaxial connector only?
How is the red LED on the booster glowing now? [confused]. I can't comment on it until having a closer look at the wires/ terminals. Some antennas will have a SMA connector and 1 wire each for 12V (+) and (-) terminals. Some other models will have SMA connector and 1 wire for 12V (+) terminal only (common will be internally connected to any metallic part). A 5A fuse will be sufficient for the power antenna, you may use any spare fuse available in your fuse box (Most probably placed near the driver knee area or under the bonnet) for this purpose.
Lamessonwheels you are surely right....but it was just simple experiment with no tools available. Also i had planned a long tour at about 4 days and there was no time to install authoroised ice ....also i was really unknown about aftermarket ice cant void warrenty thats why i done this rough finished diy...but enjoyed the music all the way....
Permanently damaging your console area for music in just one long tour! Isn't it too much for too less! Anyway the ICE looks good if you neglect the rough cuts and stick job. [thumbsup]

LED is glowing with only one wire is connected on the back side of stereo I think SMA? not sure what name is.
I think the LED is glowing currently because of some stray voltage it is getting from the Stereo unit. IMO the other wire should get connected to 12+ across a fuse. I think LED will glow brighter in that case. I don't want to blow up the electronics inside the booster, so go through the product manual/ wait for some experts to comment. :sorry:

Sorry about that Bro! But power antennas indeed need power! [lol]
Have a look at this thread too. An user have confirmed about the wiring connections, so visit a mechanic if you don't want to take a chance.
Thanks bro for taking pain and posting my query on other thread, but as one owner confirms good quality reception for me its reverse. I am not sure antenna is culprit or electronic antenna behave like that or another power need to be connected, confused?
Because of poor quality reception I was thinking to replace it manual Roof antenna but do not want to drill hole on the roof.
One doubt if electronic antenna's are better why nano twist have manual antenna on roof?

In absolute terms there is no such thing as one antenna that is more powerful than another because antennas are passive devices. It is important to understand that an antenna's gain and type of antenna is less significant than how it is connected and where it is placed. The electronic antenna are usually placed inside the vehicle. An amplifier is used to boost the signal level to compensate as it is placed inside.
Advantages:
*No aerodynamic drag and no wind noise
*Non-destructive: no holes to be created in the vehicle body. Mounted inside
*Signal amplification
Disadvantages:
*Need external power for the signal amplifier.
*Directional behavior, which can lead to nulls in the reception on certain angles around the vehicle.
*Poor radiation performance without signal booster.
*This type of antenna mounting configuration is considered least efficient. It does not have the benefit of groundplane and transfers the signal by an electrical phenomenon that is called capacitive coupling.

The regular mast type "Manual" antenna are fixed on top of the car.
Advantages:
*Locating such an antenna on the roof gives the best radiation performance, with the antenna elevated above obstructions.
*Unidirectional, receive signals equally well from all directions.
*Less sensitive to the movement and rotation of the vehicle with respect to the transmitting source.
Disadvantages:
*Need to drill and fix.
*Wind noise, and poor aesthetics in some cases

Many modern HU units have signal amplifier circuit built-in that reduces the need for an electronic antenna. So in your case as you already have the electronic antenna, get it connected to the power supply and make full use of it. I think this clears many doubts (As it helped me).
