Nice short and sweet review cooljeba, congrats!
Please post more pictures especially interiors!

Thanks
Will be taking my LUV for a short weekend trip tomorrow.. Will grab lots of pics and update it here :D

Also, my plan for using nexus 7 with webcam has hit a dead end. I only have an iBall webcam and sadly there are no Linux drivers for it [cry] . Wish I had a logitech one. If someone can lend me for trying it out it would be great. If it works I can purchase a new one! [glasses]

I booked my Ertiga in RNS Motors Bangalore, the sales executive said the VXI Model with ABS will take a long time to arrive (6 months) because they are running short of ABS units which only Bosch manufactures in India and the VXI with non ABS should be available in 3 months. I had the feeling that he was lying. But 6 months waiting period is just plain ridiculous. So i opted for the VXI no abs one. The difference was some 10K but it was due to the waiting period I had to choose the non ABS version.
I booked it around November and I got a call on Jan last week this year for delivery.
Hi Cooljeba,

Nice and sweet review of Ertiga VXi. How are the FE figures?

Are you sure the difference in price of ABS and non-ABS version is only 10k. Normally the price difference comes around 25-30k for ABS. And the waiting period for Ertiga here in Trivandrum Kerala is very less. While going to book my Dzire the SA asked me if i wanted Ertiga VDi which they had in stock. So i think the SA lied to you on ABS units unavailability and long waiting periods of Ertiga.

Congratulations on your Ertiga!
On my Ertiga ZDI, have no issues with USB stick on while on/off the ignition. In fact there will be a auto power cut to the audio system and headlights if kept on, when we turn on the ignition key to start the engine. This I presume to avoid accidental power surge to these electronic components.

The braking and the steering is power assisted, so on stalling the engine both breaking and steering will become stiff and tough to manage. It is not recommended to stall the engine while going down hill. Being new to driving please read the instruction manual thoroughly.
Happy and safe driving.

I feel too that the executive lied to me, RNS motors are huge in Bangalore, if they don't have in Bangalore no one else can! Yeah I can recall it was around 10k only. Will check again and update it here :)

Actually what happened was my Ertiga got stuck road side [cry] I was too tensed to pull it back up, as a new driver the engine got cut off repeatedly while reversing and I didn't bother about the USB Stick. Now it's screwed. It doesn't even detect in Windows [lol]

Yeah I will be extra careful downhill and yeah I did go through the complete manual once :)

If you feel you are treated unfairly in a Maruti Suzuki dealership immediately raise a concern with Maruti Customer care and they will look into the isssue immediately. I had multiple experiences were i gave 7/10 while servicing our old M800 and the very next day got a call from Maruti asking if i faced any problems. Then after half an hour Service manager from dealership contacted inquiring about the issue. In my opinion Maruti seriously looks into customer complaints.

Wow with a price difference of 10k only all should go for ABS version as it is an important safety equipment.

If the differential is only 10K, then Maruti should offer it as standard across the model to improve safety. Generally in India safety takes a backseat as compared to other countries where ABS and airbags are standard across all models (base to top end)

Yes mr.srid68,ABS and airbags must be standard across all models. All Diesel variants of Ertiga do have ABS,as standard equipment;
While in Petrol variants there are specific models,VXi ABS(optional), ZXi .

Yes New models like Verna/ New Fiesta offer ABS as standard across all models. Other Manufacturers in India should follow the likes of Hyundai and Ford on this matter. Still Hyundai and Ford has models in their range which doesn't have ABS or airbags but only old generation models(Exceptions are small car segment models like Figo, i10 and Eon).

If the price difference was >25K it makes sense, but with only 10K difference they launch a vehicle and when customers ask for it SE bluff all lies.. and try to push the VXi non abs model down your throat! why is that ? [frustration]

Absolutely right. It did happened with me to,they tried to push me with VXi(non ABS) model, when i asked for ABS,Reasons:
1.do u drive daily?no then,why do need it?
2.ABS tend to brake much faster then non abs, which may damage your vehicle.[frustration]
3.If an ABS part fails, you might have to shell out 35k for repairs.
4.Your car delivery can require 2-3 months.

I do think that a guy who is spending 8 lakhs for his car, wont mind spending 10k more ..
