Some more updates
Did Mumbai-Nashik-Mumbai this weekend. The roads are so inviting and driving is bliss. While going on Saturday there was moderate to heavy traffic. Moreover, my cousin also joined me in their new Fiat Linea. Since it is in run-in period, speeds were restricted to 100kmph mark. Nevertheless we took about 2hrs 45 min to reach our destination. Sunday was a day of testing everybody's provess on driving a BMW. My sister, her daughter, my cousin sister and her son all tried their hands at driving the BMW and were thrilled. My sister who drives the Uno (petrol and no power steering) was at total ease. By 10:15am I started my return journey back to Mumbai and decided that I will not exceed 100kmph. Unfortunately I forgot to reset the vehicle computer hence the FE figures give data pertaining to both journeys. The pictures below speak for themselves. The first two pictures are the ones I took enroute. The 3rd & 4th pictuers are those taken on reaching home (Mumbai). The 5th one shows the highway when I took the 1st & 2nd pict. The picts were taken on my iphone hence are not of DSLR quality. Moreover, the traffic was very light and it took me only 2hrs 17 min to reach Mumbai. I touched home at 12:32pm. Driving at 100 kmph feels so safe and light on the pocket. Also the time difference if I was faster would not have been more then 10-15 min. While driving on highways in India care about the following is to be taken
1. Vehicles coming on the wrong side.
2. Trucks driving slow on the right (fast) lane.
3. Sudden appearance of cattle and young kids.
4. Two wheelers changing lanes or turning right from the left lane without signalling.
5. Cars drivers speaking on mobile and not looking out for other vehicles.
I know I am being cynical but these are facts.
Now I await your comments.
