Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

The TPS can be adjusted for idle rpm. The TPS is located on the throttle body. There is a small screw (hidden inside a cylindrical case to prevent accidental adjustment) This screw basically either adjusts the zero-throttle position of the butterfly valve or the zero-position calibration of the TPS.
Try setting the idle RPM.
I have removed the TPS once cleaned it thoroughly (long back). Here the problem is not only in idle but when accelerating from 1000 to 2000 rpm.
Thanks, any way learnt a new thing.

First, try to check the connections of the TPS and MAP sensors.. just disconnect and reconnect them again.. they are the two sensors on the throttle body..

Follow that hose, the fuel pressure regulator must be a metal cilinder attached to the fuel lines of the injectors..
I removed the connections, checked for any wire cuts but every thing is fine. So shall I replace the TPS ? Or in this case will IAC valve will have any issues ?

When the car is started and is in idle the rpm shoots up on its own & comes back to 900 again keeps varying..

Thanks for detailed explanation..

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

This has earlier happened to my esteem Mpfi, it was due to leak/ loose in the small hose and it sucked more air through that.My mechanic diagnosed the problem and resolved by replacing the hose. the total cost was Rs.50!. I feel this may be a simple problem like that, please check with your local mechanic too. usually, MASS technicians may complicate this type simple problems.

There are no leaks from the pipes. So there is not issue with the vaccum.

Today checked the resistence across the TPS and found that it closed state it is around 5.17 k ohms and when in full throttle it is 1.20 k ohms.

But the thing is at a particular point it is showing 0 (null) so I feel at this point the fuel is cutting off.

Final test would be swapping a TPS from friend's car.

As the MGP guys are telling that TPS is not available separtely, need to buy entire throttle body. Is that true ? I guess no.

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Although I am more of a carb guy [;)], I have read many threads on other forums about idling issues. Three main/common faults
1. IAC - Idle air controller
2. TPS - Throttle position sensor
3. MAF - Mass Air Flow Sensor

When one of these gives up it directly affects idling & related issues. There are too many rumours in the market - Old Honda City IAC part is not available seperately & whole intake manifold will cost a bomb! Do not be in a hurry, I can understand how it feels when something is wrong with our cars. I am sure we can source the part in a week's time.

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Shocking thing today was with the price of TPS.

I called Essar (MGP distributor) today, asked for the price of TPS and the reply was 8400 rs !! .[frustration]

Never knew 800 has such costly parts other than the ECU. [lol]

So now I have to either search for OEM sensor or try to find the matching sensor from other cars.

Friends, please check the price of the TPS in your place if it is available for a lesser price it would be helpful for me..

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

if you have problems in idle and accelerating it's not so probably the TPS.. anyway you should adjust it..

Also maybe the other idle valve, the one regulated by the engine coolant temp.. under the air intake, just before enter to the throttle body, there is a "prolongation" of the throttle body where enters two hoses with engine coolant (it's a part of the throttle body), you can try cleaning that part with water at high pressure by the one of the hoses of coolant.. you can use the garden hose with the pressure of the house faucet

Another thing.. have you checked the distributor cap, maybe it's a ignition problem and it needs a cleaning..

So as per the check done with the multimeter for resistance it gave a negative result as posted in previous posts.

In my car those two connections are left free they are not connected to any source (its on the IAC valve).

Please ask about the price of TPS.

Have you changed the clutch?
Car is not movable, the car stalls as we accelerate hence couldn't drive it to workshop. [frustration]

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Get the mechanic to your place or get the car towed. But before you do anything else get that clutch changed.Do that before you do anything else.

I will take the car to the workshop tomorrow. I will try to take the car by moving it in idle or finally get it towed. :frown:

@varun, oops. What happened to you Beauty?
Some unusual hickups..[cry]

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Suzuki/Maruti engines uses two source of air for adjust the idle.. the IAC valve controlled by the ECU, and a second valve similar to the IAC but not electrical. The second one is a mechanical valve controlled by the engine coolant temp that has a bypass to flow directly throw the valve..

Follow that hose

you should put water at high pressure throw that hose and it will escape by other hose near that..

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Finally drove the car to workshop for clutch replacement. I drove the car at idle rpm dint give me any trouble.

Things to be done :

*Clutch assembly replace

*Front Right door rubber beeding replace
*Fuel tank cleaning
*Drive shaft boot replace (all 4)

Hi juandiazmora, in my car those two connections are left open, I shall post a pic by tomorrow.

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Replaced the clutch, engine mounts etc.
Cleaned the fuel tank too (there was no dust or water).

Also got a new TPS sensor (OEM not SGP) costed me 2200 rs. Now the MIL is not coming up, Idle rpm is 900 (which is fine compared to 2000 rpm) but I am facing the same jerking issues as before (as soon as I accelerate it jerks as if there is no fuel in the car).

Tried swapping the map, tps and IAC (entire throttle body) from Karthik's car but issue persists.

Please help me what next to be done.. I am not able to see my car in this condition..
