My Maruti Esteem Diesel 2004 Restoration

Hi Guys

This thread is about restoration of my maruti esteem diesel 2004. I am really interested love with old cars.

I always wanted to own a maruti esteem. When I first saw the esteem diesel, I was surprised to see the diesel engine in maruti esteem. I went through olx and bought this car.

The purchase date 4 - 5 - 2022

Service done after the day of purchase

These non clear lens headlights and type 2 tail lights were not available anywhere. I had to settle with clear lens headlights and type 1 tail lights for some time. These old non clear lens headlights were kept safely in our house.

The first road trip to coorg in my maruti esteem diesel.

Wiper motor problem solved

Ordered some parts and replaced a few.

Horn Pad Replaced.

Indicators replaced.

Wiper tank reservoir cap replaced.

New wheel covers.

I also tried Maruti Monograms on wheel covers to enhance the look.

Got the type 2 tail lights but autogold.

The metal coolant pipe got rusted, solved that problem also.

Replaced the tail light of the boot.

Oil leakage problem also solved.

Back home from the workshop.

One year of purchase completed.

After repairing some problems we had been to Coorg.

Drove to the estates.

I wanted perfect type 2 look. I had non clear lens headlights. I restored them.

Glow plugs replaced.

Left side mirror replaced.

Once on my way back to Bangalore from Coorg, in Channapatna my car's timing belt broke and it stalled off there. We had to tow it back to Bangalore to the workshop.

We got the engine head repaired and we newly rebuilt the engine.

First trip to coorg after full engine rebuild.

Few pics of my car. The wheel covers were falling off continuously, so I had to remove them to put new ones.

More parts arrived, like new lights, new Monograms, new door handles and new door beadings

After the full engine rebuild, my car is running smoothly without any complaints. Just waiting for it to get denting and painting done.
