Hi Guys,

First things first, I am really sorry for a pretty long exile. Was occupied with work , more work and still more work. Was moving places like a lunatic to collect requirements from client side.:sorry:

Since I am back and so is my search and research

One good thing that happened during me moving places, I learnt driving and in the meantime i test drove Figo(Petrol) , Figo (Diesel) , i10 & i20.

My requirements are changed now(only after a lot of deliberations) though the budget is still the same. [cry]

Fuel Confirmed : Petrol ( though Petrol prices are going Haywire)
Options : i10 Sportz (Brain at work) & i20 Magna (Heart drooling over)

To make your comments/suggestions a bit easy the parameters and data's are :

Parameters i10 1.2 Sportz i20 1.2 Magna
Front Seat Head Adjustable No Yes
Rear Seat Head Adjustable Yes No
Rear Wiper + Washer Yes No
Rear Fog Lamp No Yes
OVRM Electric Manual
OVRM Indicators Yes No
Tyres 155/80 R13 175/70 R14
Fuel Tank 35 lt 45 lt
Boot Space (lt) 225 294
Overall Length(mm) 3585 3940
Overall Width (mm) 1595 1710
Overall Height (mm) 1550 1505
ARAI Certified FE (km/lt) 20.36 18.15
City Mileage(km/lt) 14 11
Highway Mileage(km/lt) 18 15

Now time for some Financial Calculations:

i10 1.2 Sportz i20 1.2 Magna Difference
OTR Cost 510000 600000 90000
Fuel Cost 291428.57 370909.09 79480.52
Down Payment 250000 250000 0
Loan Amount 260000 350000 90000
Loan Tenure 3 years 3 years
EMI 8389 11294 2905
Total Loan Cost 302004 406584 104580
Total Extra Burden due to i20 184060.5195

Assumptions:

  • Fuel Cost calculated at 68 Rs/lt and distance covered as 60000km. I know the fuel cost and distance in the real scenario might differ but it is just to calculate the approximate financial burden My Heart (i20) will put on My Mind(i10).

  • Mileage of i20 is 11 km/lt and i10 is 14 km/lt.

  • I don't have exact data to gauge the re-sale value of these machines. So haven't included the same in my calculations.

I am attaching the calculation sheet image as well if the above information layout is difficult to understand.

So guys here I am...request you to pour your comments and invaluable insights to zero upon my everlasting search. :stupid:

Regards,
Aks

Neither of the cars you have selected have either ABS or Airbags.
thats true..but dont have a budget to include these features moreover 100% driving will be in the city and i am a pretty much sedata driver. I know these are important features but have a strict budget to adhere to.[frustration]

aks hyd you have been calculating since 10th July 2010. i wonder how you entertain yourself with feature list comparison.

just a small accident or some other issue your whole comparisons and conclusions would collapse. even a fuel price hike or closure of the company will effect the whole plan.

buying a car is most of the time not just a logical choice .
and there can be certain superstitions also though it may sound funny but most of us indians do certain spiritual rituals also which you may or maynot be able to help.

but basically you need to see which is your nearest service centre which gives best service and benefits.

stick to one rule and go for it.

I know it is quite some time since my search is going on...seems eternal ..isin't :stupid:

I almost zeroed upon Figo but then was shifted to the client location so my search stalled. I am back to Hyd in last week and so is my search.

IMHO fuel prices , accidents are relative and are force majeure events and cannot be accounted or considered untill I am Nostradamus.[:)]

no need of astrologers or notradamus but life itself is an example. rarely does it follow or lead to our individual plannings or expectations .

no issues buddy ,if you have patience you can continue the search untill you get your best, satisfying your head and heart.

else bold decisions and quick judgements .

if you are wish to save some bucks the best suggestion is go for any well built car in basic model. feature can be added after market.
the after market gadgets are cheaper and replaceable for lesser amount .

all the above holds true for alloy wheels, tyres , head unit, speakers, bluetooth, lamps, seat covers and everything else.

abs and airbags wont be mandatory if you are sedate driver who wears seat belt and wont cross 50km/h.

rather a pre used car is also much desirable.which may prove better investement depending upon your choice.

Hi aks,

first of all, welcome back and i am glad to know that you learnt driving.

Now coming to your dilemma, i hope you are aware of the steering rattle issue in i10 and i20, which has become one of the reasons for our member Amit to rethink on whether to keep his car or trade it for another car.

IMO do consider Figo. It may not be a looker, but is surely a VFM package. Even a Punto fits in your budget. With both the car, you will get ABS(top end), which imo is a boon whether you drive in city or on highways.

After a lot of calculations, procrastination, numbers crumbling, burning midnight oil on TAI forums, drawing a lot of flak from wifey( and few TAI members as well [:D]) , I present myself here to announce the arrival of First and the Latest Hatchback in my stable. Errr...i just going to book it tomorrow.

Rather than keeping you all guessing (which i managed to do quite well...i hope i am forgiven ) and before MODs decide they had enough of me and finally ban me from this wonderful forum i am going to pull out the rabbit from the hat : The choice is Ford Figo 1.2 ZXI ( Diamond White with Black Dashboard) [clap]

Current OTR for Figo 1.2 ZXI in Hyderabad is : 512626 INR.

Getting Essential Pack ( Mud Flaps, Floor Mattings & Boot Mattings ) which worth 2470 INR( i doubt the price though for these goodies ) + 3rd Year Extended Warranty as Corporate Discount whose worth is 2490 INR.

Final OTR Price for Figo 1.2 ZXI will be = 512626-(2470+2490) = 507666 INR

More Freebies: Sun Film ( Garware ) for Rear and side mirrors + Teflon Coating

Booking Amount : 25000 INR

Going for a car loan, the process will start from tomorrow.

Please let me know if i can squeeze dealer more to get some other freebies. Figo owners your opinions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks to all of you for having patience to bear me and my logic all these days.

Welcome back to the forum, aks_hyd. When you first disappeared for a few months, I thought that you must have bought the car already but it’s altogether a nice feeling to see the old members back, which cannot be expressed in words. Congratulations for finally settling the decision on Figo. This car has been doing exceptionally well in the market, so Ford must be doing something right. I’m sure, you won’t regret the choice. Do keep us updated and also keep participating. We’ll be eagerly waiting for the ownership and dealership experiences.

Drive Safe,

Thanks for the warm welcome [:D] !!!! My disappearance act was highly associated with work related activities. I missed being active here. Now since I am back will make sure that my presence is counted. Yes the Figo was the choice since the beginning, quite happy to end the search with owning one of them.

Eagerly waiting to encapsulate the experiences with you guys!!!!![clap]

Congratulations Aks_Hyd , a good decision after a long time finally! Figo is one VFM car which is doing great here. I think you have already got a pretty good offer from the dealer.

aks, man what a thread to read at one go, and finally good to hear you finalised your dream car finally.congratulations for the same.I would suggest you not to opt for teflon coating rather opt for underbody coating, which is much better then teflon ones.Petrol Figo's dont well much then its diesel ones, so do bargain for more discounts and freebies as much as you can, they would oblidge.
