Hi all, i am back after a long time with a few updates. Many ss80's will have a similar problem like the ones i faced so i am writing down solutions for people who may need it.

problem 1
When the car runs at a speed of 40 to 50kmph and i put my legs on the brake i get a big vibration on my steering and also feel a pulsating feeling on the brake pedal.
solution:
a. Checked for wheel allignment and did a wheel alignment balancing. Tyres were new on alloy rims.
b. Changed the steering ball joints and tie end. Steering ball joint is totally different type for SS80 when compared to newer models.
c. Changed the lower arm set along with bushing.
d. Changed the disc rotors, disc pads, calliper pin and boot set.
e. Changed the rear brake liner along with, wheel, cylinder and bled the brake fluid also cleaned the full rear brake system free from dirt and dust.
f. Changed the left side drive shat which was very weak.
Present conditions: No steering vibration, no pulsating feeling, better braking, hand brake works which was not working earlier. Car drives smooth and drives like new. I also have backed up a new master cylinder assy from TVS Girling make so that i can change it in future in case if it needs replacement.

Almost after 10 months I am here with an update. Guess what? Joy, Happiness, fun, laughter. Yes I managed to get few crucial spare for my SS80, even if not SGP's I made sure atleast I get Indian makes which makes the car practical and at the same time not affecting its originality. But all said I am dying every moment to get hold of a outside rear view mirror and a Rear seat lock for the left side. Will post pics of the spares soon as I have to resize them, but a small teaser for now,
The Makeover!!!

Congrats on the buy, I always wanted to buy one, but never found one in decent condition & reasonable price. SS80 is best in red colour, compared to all other colours. The car looks good and you are getting the essential repairs done, a wise decision in deed. Somehow the alloys dont gel well (just my opinion) with the overall car. Please do stock a pair of tail lamps, grill, monograms etc these are going to be impossible to find after a year or two. Also, plz post a pic of the rear suspension (underbody pic), I just want to see the fiber leaf (AFAIK) set up.

Hi SS80, Thank You very much for your kind words. As mentioned earlier i accidentally got my hands on this SS80 and I am loving every moment with it.
The pic I posted was taken initially after the painting was done. I recently changed to Stock Rims with Chrome Center Cups.
I am still searching for a spare grill, apart from the grill I have almost stocked every other SS80 spare to the max which includes the monograms too.
Will post a pic of the underbody as soon as possible.

That looks cool. I really liked those alloys. Looking for some decent alloys for my 1988 M800. Any suggestions?

Cheers

With thanks and regards

Hi glomus 123, In 12inch there are very few designs. HR's and Plati has some good designs. I'd suggest you visit accessories shops around your area so that you may get a good idea rather than checking online.

Thanks! I will do that! Probably I am going to do the purchase in Coimbatore, as its the nearest big city for me, being in Palakkad. Do you have any suggestion of shops for wheels, spares and accessories in Coimbatore? If you dont wish to write down here, please PM me.

Thanks in advance!

Hi glomus123, For alloys in coimbatore you can check out at Sri Vari Wheel aligners at Avinashi road (Nava India Junction)
Spares it is best to shop around Grey town and Ukkadam. Most of the shop guys will change their faces when we ask for SS80 spares or Old Model 800.
Accessories I would suggest SUN ENTERPRISES on RTO road or Sound Works at Sivananda Colony (Mr. Iliyas)
