Hi Friends before I start writing about my experience here I would like to thank my friend and Automotive India member Petrolheadprash ( Prashant) as it was he who introduced me to the world of The Automotive India.

I have been an Auto enthusiast since my childhood, all the credit goes to my dad it was his love and passion for cars that got transferred in me and it is because of his passion that I have been able to drive atleast 50 percent of the cars that are present in india.

Now coming back to the Carnama-Mumbai meet.

I had once seen a meet organised by another forum while I was reading some stuff online. That was the time when I thought why doesn’t The Automotive India forum organize a meet like that, now apologies as I was not aware of meets that were organized earlier as I was not that active on the site due to load of work which lasted the whole week and weekends but a big thanks to Storme911 who sent me a PM this time informing me about the meet and followed by constant updates from Raj_5004 & Raja.

From the time I received the message from Storme911 and till the end of the meet my excitement level has just gone up and throughout the meet it has been like that.[:D]

Everybody here has spoken about the meet and the drive but what I experienced will always be different from others so I am explaining it in my own words.

Now I am born and bought up in South Mumbai I go to Marine Drive almost every day infact I go there every morning for a walk. The bandra Worli sealink is like a bypass that I use whenever I have to go to bandra or to khar so I have driven from there more than hundreds of time. The CST-Chembur Freeway is my everyday route to office so practically from the time it was inaugurated till today I use that route 6 days a week. But these same routes which I experienced so many times was completely different on the Carnama meet. Never have these routes made me so happy or energetic to drive on that it made me on the 10th November 2013. The Drive from Lilavati to Worli via Sea-link the stretch of the queens necklace and the express way feel of the Free way can be summarized in one word as LEGENDARY.[clap]

Now most of my friends on the meet have discussed the stuff that we did. So won’t go deep into that. Now will describe the people.

1) PetrolHeadPrash(Prashant) – I know this guy since teens, we live in the same colony and share one passion in common that is cars. Let it be a Auto car event or a car rally we need not ask each other its fixed that we are going for it. He is a very simple guy who loves his cars and in my way more knowledgeable on cars than me. Heard a lot of comments that he is introvert, yes it takes him a little time to open up.

2) Cruiser( Deepam):- He was introduced by prashant to me regarding his car queries. Have mostly just chatted with him on Watsapp and the meet was the first time I met him personally. He is a very knowledgeable guy about the cars. He is also a very nice guy who likes to keep people around him happy and entertain them in his own style.

3) Storme911(Mukesh):- The choclate boy of the group or as Raj said ‘Chaava’. First impression on seeing him was a rich dads spoilt brat. But as I spoke to him found him not to be a spoilt brat but completely opposite of that. A very nice person to talk to, very down to earth person.

4) Raj_5004:- I had just replied couple of time to Rajeevs thread on the civic. The meet was the first time I ever met him and spoke to him in person. The moment you see him he looks like this boring IT Guys drives like a rich spoilt brat but again when you have a civic in your hand and roads like the Sea-link, Marine drive and the free-way who would be controlled. But he is completely opposite in nature. A very knowledgeable guy on mostly all the issues that I spoke to him, has good sense of humour. In short a very nice guy to hang around with. Also had the best time following his civic as my beast had no power or strength to be with him so had to follow.

5) Raja: ‘The Director’ this word suits nicely for him the Carnama the video the pics u see are all because of his directions. A gem of a person. There are very few people who have the talent to hold on to people, to entertain them and to be a part of their happiness. Never in my life have I loved the camera but it was him who made me do stuff that I would not even done at my wedding the outcome is whatever you’ll can see and I really like it. A nice person with good knowledge of cars and very good knowledge of Food.

6) Jarpickle(Keith): Did not have much time to interact with him. But a very nice chap who has loads of knowledge on cars. Need to know him better. And yes as Raj said the moment we say Jarpicle the question does arise Why were you Banned??

7) JohnyBoy: Was the most experienced member of the meet. A cool guy who I did not see talking much. But was listening to everything that we were speaking and commenting at times when necessary.

8) RaviB: He is a very Jovial guy who loves to crack jokes and keep on smiling. Again did not have a opportunity to know him well, but will always remember him for one thing ‘MAHARASTRA SHASAN’.

9) NicePankaj(Pankaj):- A very simple guy who had come with his wife for the meet. I really appreciate his enthusiasm and passion for cars for which he drove from a really long distance for the meet. A very nice person to speak with.

10) Vikalp: The Most silent member of the meet. I actually don’t remember hearing him speak. A silent observer. I did not get a chance to know him as he was very quiet all the time.

11) Nickandre(Nigel): The Editor and Photographer of the group it is due to his talent, hardwork and effort we can see the outcome of the Video and the Pictures in this thread. Again had no chance of interaction as he was busy in recording us.

Now finally everyone in the meet played an important part but it was the immense efforts of Nickandre, Raja & Raj_5004 you can see the outcome of the meet.

All my observation on people is just what I feel I really need to know you’ll much more better specially RaviB, Nickandre, NicePankaj, Jarpicle, Vikalp & JohnyBoy as we had very little conversation or interactions.

Am waiting eagerly for another meet.[:D]

Guys, everyone keeps repeating it was Raja, nickandre and Raj_5004 who took all the efforts and that is the reason this meet and presentation was a success. WRONG. This was a success because of each one of us. Without everyone, we would have nothing to shoot, nobody to talk to, nothing to write about and hence the meet would have been cancelled.

You guys have given the word "meet" a new dimension altogether!!! I can only imagine how refreshing and elating the experience would have been when the big-shots like you guys meet up.
Big shots, who? We are normal mango people, oh sorry, auto enthusiasts...

Hey Raj,

Good write up, with all the enthusiasm around seems like you missed some,
1. We had Gujarati thali, correct?
2. Suggestion noted, but mine was BNW Punto
1) They had the option of Gujarati thali and Punjabi, we all ordered Punjabi. [:D]
2) Yes, I realized my mistake later but it was too late to edit! I like the white Punto too because its a diesel... the red was a petrol! [surprise]

Raj_5004 - This guy can be anything once he a super-fast driver and then the very next second he evolves into a clown fooling around and entertaining everyone. His civic is THE BEAST. One of the best cars i have ever sat in so far, every-time i see a civic these days on the roads i let it go ahead of me with sheer respect.Wish my next car can be a civic.
Raj_5004: Civic! Civic! jeez sitting inside his civic made me fall in love with it so much that I have been asking my dad lets plan for a Civic top model with auto gears
I wish you both get a car much better than the Civic... what about a turbo charged V6 Accord? [glasses]

4) Raj_5004:- I had just replied couple of time to Rajeevs thread on the civic. The meet was the first time I ever met him and spoke to him in person. ...................
Also had the best time following his civic as my beast had no power or strength to be with him so had to follow.
Trust me, you are a faster driver than I am. You were following me in an Innova. I have owned an Innova and I have never crossed 120 kmph in it! If I was in an Innova, I would be nowhere with you guys.

It does sound nice to hear the lines but again we all are fast drivers only on special occasions rest of the times we are civilised drivers. Actually was just trying to keep up with you [;)]

The Grand Mumbai CARnama Meet!! Here's my experience:

Saturday Night : 1:00am

Me: Aaahh. Saturday's over, now what is to be done on Sunday. I hope it wouldn't be a boring one.

GOD: Son. solution to your problem lies in the TAI forum and then a lightning bolt strikes me. I open the TAI forum.

Was just thinking about this. haven't met TAI members. so lets check out when is the next Mumbai meet going to happen?

Surprise! Surprise! there's a Mumbai meet next day! GOD made my Sunday!

This was such a brilliant co-incident that words fall short to describe it.

I wished for a meet & it came true!

I had missed the earlier Mumbai Meet & so did not want to miss this one.

I registered immediately for the meet.

The next day Raja & Keith informed me where & when to meet to begin this amazing Mumbai Meet CARnama.

Woke up earlier than the alarm was so excited!

Washed my Ford. started it. bolted off straight to pick-up Keith & Raja!

and then I meet these two guys whom I never met before & was delighted by their friendliness

It didn't seem that I didnt know them from before. it felt I knew them since a long time!!

I first met Jarpickle (Keith) & so would like to talk about him:

Frank. Full of Automotive Knowledge. Cheerful.

He was with me during the whole trip. We chatted about a lot of interesting technical stuff. Too good!!

Then I met Raja. Here's a little about him:

Rockstar. Has the right attitude to carry himself. Fun loving. Prankster & over all passionate about photography!

I met him & felt a rush of enthusiasm. that's when I knew. hell yeah. The Mumbai CARnama meet is on!!

We then took off to meet the other guys, who would be contributing to this Meet by their presence.

After leaving Chembur, we drove off to Bandra, near Lilavati Hospital, where we meet the remaining members.

Now the real fun begins!! The CARnama begins!!

We all, 6 cars & 13 members, started our journey.

First pass-by: Bandra-Worli Sea-Link. Speed (my car): 110 kmph. Enthusiam: Sky-Rocketing!! [:D]

Second pass-by: Worli Sea-Face. Standby. Roll Camera & Action!!

Our cars passed one after the other in style which was recorder by our Idea-Generator RAJA bhai & our perfectionist Nigel the cameraman! [clap]

Third pass-by: NCPA. Buddies Halt. time for some ghup-shup & modelling [;)]

This was like our pit stop.where we unwound our-selves and mingled with our fellow members.

Along with our chit-chat we were made to feel superstars by our Director...Raja!

As we got easy with each other. here's what I felt about others:

Raj_5004: He had to be the first to be observed! Guy with the CIVIC & guy with a great sense of humor. these both aspects can never be neglected by anyone. I enjoyed Raj's company!

JohnyBoy: The dude with a cool hat! I couldn't interact with him much but yet did not miss to observe his cool attitude & friendly gestures. Thumbs up to you dude.

Nickandre: The perfectionist! We got to see this quality of his through his work. does it from heart! Couldn't interact much with him too as he was busy doing a perfect job! But seems a cool person to be around with.

Listening to their talks, I enjoyed the company of rest of the members: cruiser, nicepankaj & his wife, PetrolHeadPrash, RaviB, Sandykudva & Storme911.
I would like to interact more with all of you guys the next we meet. Never-the-less I feel great thinking that I made 12 new friends!!

After this little meeting we roared our cars on & started off straight towards Asiatic Society.

Fourth pass-by: The Asiatic Society. Mood: Time for some real modelling, video shooting & photography.
This stop was an amazing one. Our inner models had awaken & were ready to show the world how "HATKE" we Mumbaikers can be!!
Had a lot of fun being photographed.

By this time we were damn hungry. this coupled with the tempting thought of having a Punjabi thali at Maharana Kamat!!

We shot off towards our last stop. Maharan Kamat restaurant, in Chembur.

But to reach there we had to go through last, but in no sense the least, exciting drive by: the Eastern Freeway!! Yeah man. bring it on. we Mumbaikers are game for it!!

Fifth pass-by: the Eastern Freeway. Thoughts: I am Micheal Schumacher. Speed (my car): 125kmph. Feeling: Chakk de Fatte!!

This drive-by was too good as it gave the maximum length to drive & maximum time to spend with our lovely cars!!

And hey. it also gave us the excitement of driving through a Tunnel!!

Man that was a bonus element!

After covering this drive we reached our restaurant.

Our Thali's were ready but we had to still wait as our Director & photographer had plans to capture the delicious Food. forever into the Camera!

After taking a few pics we were not ready to hog!!

Last stop: Maharana Kamat restaurant. Situation: Mouth-Watering Punjabi food. heavenly air-conditioned room. a successful "Mumbai CARnama Meet"!!

So this was what GOD had planned by Sunday as!! Thank you!! May all Sundays be like that !!

This was how our "Mumbai CARnama Meet" turned out to be a grand success, which will be studded in golden words in TAI's histroy!!

Special appreciation for RAJA, who conceived this whole plan & directed it towards success.

Special appreciation for Nickandre, who captured this whole experience so perfectly in the Camera so that we can watch & rejoice for ever!!

None-the-less. hats-off to all the participating members, who made the "Mumbai CARnama Meet" a beautiful and cherish-able reality.

So, This was my experience of the Meet.

Looking forward for such a meet again & I believe it will happen soon.

Till then. love your cars. pamper them & have lots of fun with them!!

Cheers,
Vikalp Luthra.

I still havent seen the video. I wont be able to see it before 2014.
As we're heading towards China. No youtube in china. I can see it only when we reach Europe. So will have to wait to see the video. [roll]

Guys this has been a superb idea, of processing raw images.

This idea can be harnessed into various threads in the forum.

Yes waiting for cars pics, lots of them on the move.
