Just walked into Hyundai Motor Plaza (Mohan Cooperative Area) for a casual idea about prices this festive season. Managed to get these figures after little haggling:

> Eon D-Lite (Plus): Rs.3,21,619 (Ex. showroom: Rs.3,18,750)

> Eon Era (Plus): Rs.3,36,463 (Ex. showroom: 3,33,023)

I am not buying the car but thought to share the figures for comparison in case someone is considering purchasing an Eon.

Visited Tata showroom on Saturday. All the deals about Safari and Storme could be summed up as:

1. Cash discount: Safari Rs. 15000. Storme Rs. 20000.
2. Exchange 'eyewash' bonus: Rs. 30000 on both.
3. Some corporate discount depending on what organization you slog for.
4. Thats it saar. Bhat more do ju bant? Bi kan geeb only thees much.

Here's how the conversation between me and the Sales Manager followed:

Me: "For God's sake, its December. Why is there no mouth watering deal on these vehicles?"

SM: "Err, heh heh."

Me: "Mahindra is giving Rs. 75000 off on XUV, and that does 4 times as many units per month as the Safari and Storme do combined."

SM: "Err, heh heh."

Me: "Come on man, even Renault is giving Rs. 60000 off on a hot selling SUV like the Duster."

SM: "Err, heh heh."

Me: "Tell me, why doesn't Tata want to sell its SUVs?"

SM: "Err, heh heh."

Me: "Please say something no."

SM: "Err, heh heh. Apparently there's some thinking at Tata top management blah"

Me: "Err, heh heh. Bye."

Vamoose.

Alternatively TATA Motors is giving upto 55K off on 2012 Nano and 25K off on 2013 (refresh) models for TATA employees

There's a saying in Hindi: 'halwai apni mithai kabhi khud nahin khaata' (a confectioner never eats the sweets that he made himself).

Would love to know how many Tata employees bit the bait.

Some really nice discounts being offered on the Hyundai i20 and Verna diesel. Really a good time to pick cars and get the maximum benefit if one is keen on keeping the car for a few years and doesn't really car about the manufacturing year.

Owing to GOI flip flop policy on Diesel and Petroleum pricing, all companies have excess stock of diesel cars. Hence diesel cars have more discounts than petrol siblings.

In some cases petrol has waiting period, where as diesel is off the shelf.

Heard on the Radio last week they have upto 1 lac off on Punto (must be 2013 models).

This is the best time to pick a 2013 manufactured model. Renault Duster and Skoda Rapid (2013) have a flat one lakh rupee off.
