MG Motor India Partners With BPCL To Develop EV Charging Station Network Across India

MG Motor India has partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to strengthen the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country. The company says that the partnership with BPCL is focused on faster adoption for EVs by expanding opportunities for intercity travel as both parties will install EV chargers across highways as well as within cities. MG Motor will also use BPCL's widespread network of fuel stations to install charging stations. Both companies will strategically identify charging sites, garner consumer insights, devise loyalty programs, and create technology to manage charging systems.

MG Motor reaches One Lakh sales Milestone in India

MG Motor India has today announced reaching the 1,00,000 volume milestone within three years of its market debut.

Speaking of the Milestone, Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “We are grateful for the love and trust that we have received after establishing a solid foundation focused on employees, dealers, suppliers, and customers. Our dedication to bringing positive changes to the Indian mobility space through smart mobility solutions and creating a sustainable future is becoming stronger every day.”

MG’s manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat has an annual production capacity of 80,000 vehicles and employs nearly 2,500 people. While the Hector really set the tone for MG, Astor pushed it forwards by recording a strong booking tally within months of its market launch and it was followed by the facelifted ZS EV this past March.

MG Motor India introduces doorstep vehicle repair and maintenance service

MG Motor India has introduced ‘MG service on wheels’ initiative to provide customers with car repair and maintenance services from the comfort of their homes.

The pilot version of the program has been introduced in Rajkot and the company said that it plans to cover other upcountry markets across India in future.

MG, in a statement, said that the ‘MG service on wheels’ is a suite of services to help customers in the periodic maintenance of their vehicles in addition to addressing repair and upkeep requirements that may arise.

The program will cover most service operations that are otherwise provided only in a workshop.

It will be manned and operated by fully trained and certified technicians backed by MG’s customer support.

The service will operate as a mobile workshop equipped with all the necessary tools, spare parts, and other consumables and digital assets to support immediate and unforeseen vehicle maintenance requirements.

The program will feature a simple and effortless appointment booking system. It will allow customers to connect with the company and schedule their car maintenance at their convenience.

MG Motor previously introduced various customer-facing initiatives including- ‘MY MG Shield’ and ‘MG Care@Home’.

‘MY MG Shield’ is a unique and industry-leading car protection and care program; MG Care@Home initiative, rolled out in 2021, is designed to provide contactless repair and sanitization services to customers at their doorstep.

Morris Garages is also working to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with a new and affordable EV that it plans to slot in below the ZS EV. The model, expected to be launched in the latter half of 2022, is expected to be priced between Rs 10-15 lakh, ex-showroom.

MG Motor rolls out 1 Lakh units of Hector from its Halol facility

MG Motor India has rolled out the 1 lakh unit of its Hector SUV from the Halol plant. First launched in 2019, the milestone comes at a time when the company is readying for an all-new MG Hector on January 5, 2023. The new MG Hector will also be manufactured from the same plant in Halol, Gujarat. The MG Hector is positioned as a mid-sized SUV, competing with the Jeep Compass, and Tata Harrier, along with a few premium offerings such as the Hyundai Tucson and the Volkswagen Tiguan in the country.
