MG Hector Plus gets two new variants
MG Motor India has introduced two new variants to the Hector Plus line-up. The Hector Plus 7-seater now gets a new Select Pro petrol-CVT variant that's priced at Rs 19.71 lakh and a new Smart Pro diesel-MT that's priced at Rs 20.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
First up, the mid-spec petrol Select Pro trim was so far only available with a manual gearbox, but it now also gets the option of a CVT automatic. Secondly, the entry-level diesel Smart Pro variant that was only available with a six-seat configuration now additionally gets a seven-seat variant with a bench seat for the second row. Both new variants essentially make the petrol-auto powertrain and the 7-seater configuration with the diesel engine more affordable than before.
Both come with features like 14-inch infotainment screen, connected car tech wireless Apple CarPlay and Andorid Auto and wireless phone charging. Both new variants also come with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps, sequential turn indicators, a leather wrapped steering wheel, a full LED instrument cluster and push button start with keyless go feature.
As far as powertrain goes, the Hector Plus petrol-CVT uses a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit good for 143hp and 250Nm of torque; the same is also available with a manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the diesel-MT is a Stellantis-sourced 2.0-litre mill that produces 170hp and 350Nm. This engine also sees duty on the Tata Harrier, Safari and the Jeep Compass.
Key rivals to the MG Hector plus include the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and also the Toyota Innova Hycross.
