Mercedes Benz India has launched a new special edition of the Maybach GLS which is the Night Series and it starts from Rs 3.71 crore (ex-showroom). This means that it costs around Rs 25 lakh more than the regular Maybach GLS. Mercedes has also launched a similar version of the EQS 680 SUV at the Auto Expo.
The upgrades in this package are all visual and aesthetic. The major talking point being, the dual tone paint job which incorporates Onyx black as the base layer and the Mojave Silver finish as the top layer. The exterior chrome elements are now dark chrome ones and there are new 22-inch wheels as well which are also done in black.
The interior also follows a blacked out theme and the seats are don in bespoke Nappa leather with wood and aluminum accents. Mercedes has also changed the digital cluster animations to display the exclusive Night Series animations. Other features remain more or less the same with the vehicle.
Some notable features include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 27-speaker Burmeister sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting a 64-colour ambient lighting. The Maybach GLS also gets the very famous e-Active body control which allows the vehicle to bounce using its air-suspension and get it out of sticky situations. There are loads of options as well and customers can get bespoke additions done to their cars according to their taste. There is an on-board fridge as well.
Mechanically, it remains the same and it features the same 4.0L bi-turbo V8 engine which produces 550 bhp and 770 Nm of torque with the help of a 48-V mild hybrid system which gives it a boost of around 250 Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via the 9-speed automatic transmission and a 4matic AWD system.
