My father had the dream to see a three pointed star to stand in his garage since his childhood and he could make it possible through his sheer hard work and devotion. Having the three pointed star is indeed considered the benchmark of success in India.

Buying Decision :-
I and my father were in a lookout for a SUV preferably Harrier at that time. We went to TATA showroom but unfortunately there was no test drive vehicle available. We were bit upset and we were passing by Mercedes showroom and then my father suddenly decided to pay a visit over there.
We were mentally prepared to look for a test drive for the entry level CLA but we got to know that it shall be phased out soon and only a few unsold vehicles were left for their stock to be cleared at not much heavy discounts. The Mercedes sales representative was very warm and offered their traditional Mercedes-Benz logo shaped coffee to us. He further suggested to look into the C200 ( we stretched our budget by a significant extent ) and decided to book one within next 2 days.

Delivery Procedure :-
The vehicle was delivered roughly within a month’s time as promised but since it was Covid period and the lockdown was supposed to be implemented from the very next day , they packed the cake and other delicacies , there was no specific ceremony inside the showroom. They did arrange for a chauffeur to deliver the vehicle at our home. It was indeed a dream come true moment for our family but unfortunately we could not drive the vehicle properly since the lockdown was implemented the very next day.

Pros of the Vehicle :-
  • Excellent driving comfort with 9G tronic transmission
  • Interior colour combination is excellent and material upholstery speaks benchmark of quality
  • Dual screens one for central infotainment and the other is fully digital speedometer
  • Excellent road presence and ride quality
  • 64 colours ambient lighting.
Cons of the Vehicle :-
  • The tyre pressure monitor in the car shows in KPA ( units ) rather than traditional PSI units that’s followed in India, ( the Mercedes-Benz connected mobile application although shows in PSI which makes life easier )
  • Exorbitantly high service costs and warranty packages ( around 1.2 lakhs for annual service and 1.5 lakhs for annual warranty packages ). It is true that maintaining a Mercedes in India does dig a huge hole in your pocket from authorized service centre.
  • The car is strictly a four seater and not a five seater due to the big transmission tunnel.
  • The Mercedes Benz connected app does not have engine start stop feature whereas our much cheaper Kia Seltos has that feature
  • Boot carrying capacity gets reduced drastically due to spare tyre taking up huge space.
Overall I would suggest it has been a good experience owning the vehicle and touchwood it has been trouble free till date.
