Maruti CNG Humming Sound

I have a wagon r CNG company fitted 2011 model. Done 118K Kms. Still Terrific mileage with CNG 23 Kms per kg.

I am facing issue which another member also reported but could nt find a decent solution or fix.

On CNG mode it's gives irritating humming sound in cabin..which increases with rpm or throttle. It's there with or without ac. Does nt appears to be a belt screaching sound. Interstingly it goes off as soon as mode is turned to petrol!!!

I got CNG filter and cng throttle/ reducer and o ring replaced from mgss. ..but no respite.

Is this common in CNG factory fitted or retrofitted vehicles.
Would appreciate you advice and solutions

It is quite normal its just ac compressor on off cycle. Don't worry.

Hello Wagon R Owners,

While surfing online to look for technical stuff related to K10B engine I came across some links which had useful information in PDF format. Sharing the link here for members to look at. It could be useful for getting to know some basic construction of K10B engine.

1. http://training.suzukiauto.co.za/SASATrainingDocs/EN02_Engine_Mechanical_1/K10B.pdf
2. http://training.suzukiauto.co.za/SASATrainingDocs/EN02_Engine_Mechanical_1/Engine_Fundamentals_1.pdf
3. http://training.suzukiauto.co.za/SA...smission_transaxle/Transmission_Transaxle.pdf
4. http://training.suzukiauto.co.za/sa...gine auxiliary systems/front page/exhaust.pdf

The above pdfs have some good technical information about the engine system. Hope you all will find it helpful too.
I am not sure if I should be posting this in the owners manual/service manual thread hence posting here as Wagon R has K10B engine. I will leave it up to MODs to decide to move this post elsewhere.

That's some awesome information! Do you by any chance also have access to (or know how to find) the exhaust specification documents? I'm looking to do some work on my vehicle's exhaust.

Hi Viru,
All I have about the exhaust is the link that I had shared in earlier post. There is one document (link no 4) which talks about the exhaust system. Also you may want to check the link to the service manual that I had posted in other thread.

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...es-ownership-workshop-manuals-collection.html

Go To Page 14 Post 202 in above thread to find the link. This it seems is for old wagon R models but could be helpful.

Hey guys,
Our waggy went for the1st service with about 980kms on the odo. Engine oil was changed to synthetic(Castrol Edge). Now my question is that is it all right to use synthetic oil at such low odo reading? I mean though the car has completed it's first year and has run about 980kms with lot of idling but is it enough for the engine to wear out thoroughly? The engine has done about 1110kms as of today on the odo.

Yes, you can switch to synthetic engine oil at any time. Dismiss the rumors about 'hard break in', those are all but invalid with modern manufacturing.

Thanks Viru sir.
Another concern of mine is that is that while idling or moving when the ac is switched on the headlights and the cabin lights dim up a bit. This also happens if power windows are operated(with or without ac). Is it normal or there's some problem with the alternator?

The first situation is normal as the AC compressor takes quite a bit of energy to run, sapping it away from other electronics. Since it's likely connected to the engine via a belt which also connects to the alternator, turning on the compressor at idle slows the alternator down enough to produce a noticeable drop in energy being supplied to other electronics. At higher engine speeds, this wouldn't be noticeable as the alternator would be producing more than enough energy.

Similarly, if there is any other high electrical load (Such as Headlights) at idle, it could also sap energy from the power windows. However, if your windows are slow at idle even in the absence of other electrical loads, you may want to check, clean and grease the mechanism.

Nb. I've deliberately refrained from technical terminology above.

Fitted a Lumax single horn, to the existing factory fitted horn, (with which the rikshawala also did not budge), no wire cutting just one twin wire cable attached, and voila I can be heard loud and clear.
Cost of horn 190
Cable/Lead 20
Labour 100
Paid 300

Got the 4th paid service done @12634, paid 4836, from KTL, Ramadevi, Kanpur
I thought they will crib and winch at the 2nd horn, which was fitted outside, no not a word, the whole 3 hours I was with the car. I noticed many Wagon R with 2 horns, which had come for service, so 2 horns are a norm I suppose.
They did the tyre rotation, no balancing or allingment, as their machine was out of order.
Overall service was good.
